The FFCC series in general receives bland review scores, but that hasn't stopped me from enjoying them. I like the FFCC world and races. I'm picking this game up regardless of scores.
& @Kid_A Nice to see someone who has the same tastes as me. I could never get into the RPG genre because the only motivation is the story, which you sometimes have to completely stop for about 3 whole days (real world, 24 hour days) just because you "aren't a certain level".
I really wish Pokemon had a more interesting combat system because that game had a lot of great stuff going for it. I bought Diamond for the DS and I loved the open world, train/raise your Pokemon aspects of it. But there were a ton of random battles, and the combat system was kind of boring. I can't stand RPG's where you're forced to take damage. That's what I love about Mario & Luigi--ever enemy has a tell, and if you're good you can go a whole fight without taking a hit.

I'll buy this game with no hesitation when I get the money otherwise to all IGN and GI reviewers, all I got to say is f*ck you!

The Game isn't great but it's not that awful either Gametrailers Gave it a 7.7 proving it's a good game but not great do to Control and Camera issue that's It.
Does anyone own the game? I do and the game is solid. I picked it up Thursday. It is completely different than I thought it to be from the reviews online. Different in the fact that it is a great title. The plot was criticized as cliche, but the plot is great in my opinion. The camera is awkward until you get used to it. But I would say the "hands on" reviews from IGN and others give those reviewers about 30 minutes of game play due to the fact I played through everything they mentioned in 30 minutes. I agree with Chrono Cross, to an extent. If I listed to everything that IGN and the others posted I would only play Xbox and PS3. Ugg, prolly get flammed for this post.

I can see this game going down to $30 in a few months so i'll try it out then
It is Final Fantasy, underneath the mini games and exploration (bad examples, I know; just trying to convey that it's not a typical FF title). It should sell well. As for me, I'll probably buy it used.
I dont really take these reviews at face value, if you add a point and a half, thats where I think FFCC might atually stand. Either way, I'll be passing on the initial release in hopes of picking it up reduced next year.

I own this game too and I think that it is really good. The graphics are simply spectacular, the music is very enjoyable, the voicework while not the greatest is still pretty good and I really do like the plot. This game is just plain fun and there is tons of stuff to do in this game. The link to that Rhansley posted to the Gametrailer's video review is so far the best and most accurate review of the game that I have seen so far. Thanks for posting that Rhansley!

Like I said, the bad review does give me pause. I will probably rent it at some point because the game still interests me, especially diue to the positive word of mouth here, which I have learned to take very seriously--many fun games get bad reviews because they are lacking in some areas that don't matter to the average gamer. A positive review from Nintendo Life would also increase my interest. I don't see just running out and spending that much money on a game if it really is just a collection of mini-games with action adventure bits, a broken camera and poor controls. If it transcends those problems, however, then it would be worth every penny.

I am surprised to see these low numbers around teh web, I thought this game was gonna get 8+ everywhere, how wrong was I. I still want to play it, lots, just a bit surprised (and concerned) that the critics are turning on it.

Although at times IGN can be harsh (I think MW: Reflex ended up with too low a score because it wasn't written by someone who ONLY plays the Wii--that does make a difference when reviewing a game originally available for the HD platforms)
@Kid_A: No, it isn't really an open sandbox world; it is more like the world of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The game starts off pretty linear but eventually it opens up and gives you the freedom to explore and progress at your own leisure. You are guided by the story via cut-scenes to your next destination but you are free to spend time messing around earning medals for doing various things if you choose to do so.
Sounds like a blast. It just might be my next purchase.
