Topic: Identify folder-codes on SD-card

I want to store the data from my SD-Card on my computer's harddrive. That saves memory on the SD-card and I can organize the WiiWare/VC/Saves in a better, more organized manner.

On the SD-card is a folder structure "SD:/private/wii/title" which contains all the subfolders for WiiWare, Virtual Console and Wii savegames. The subfolders names are always four characters long.

For example the folder "XH4P" contains all the data for the "Max & the magic Marker Demo", "XHLP" is for the "Jett Rocket Demo" and so on. Each game has it's specific folder which contains the Channel-data and/or the Savegame-data.

To organize the folders on the harddrive in a reasonable way, I need to determine which folder-code is for which game.
I have found two ways to identify the folder-names.

a) There is a website where you can lookup the codes.
http://www.magmagateau.com/nindb/?home

b) A GameFAQs article with some explanation and also some codes.
http://www.gamefaqs.com/wii/930752-wii/faqs/53144

The problem with (a) is that there are constantly server-errors on the website. It's almost unusable. And the problem with (b) is that the codes are pretty old. For example WiiWare demos are not listed at all.

Does anyone know of another website or a better way to identify the folder names on the SD-card?

Just copy it all, and update often.

Have one folder that has everything Wii, and another for your DSi.

Simple.

And can you go a little faster?!

That is not what I want to do. I want to be able to copy a specific game from the harddisk to the SD-card and vice versa.

you're gonna want to be careful getting that information off of websites -- make sure it's for the PAL version and not NA or JP. it's the last letter that's different, and sometimes that letter changes even depending which part of said region you're in. SKTTR's probably given you a goldmine right there since you're both from Germany. :3

that said, the first website you linked to is working fine at the moment...? what titles did you still need info for?

Wow. That are really a lot of codes. I'm very pleased to add them to my database.

By the way: What does the second code in the download content-section mean?

Thank you very much, SKKTR.

@BlackDragon: Thanks for the heads up. And yes, this is really a goldmine. I'm very happy. I need codes for games as I buy them. Maybe games that aren't released yet.

This is what I have figured out myself so far.

By the way, you can view all WiiWare system codes on the first page of their respective manual - online in the Wii Shop Channel - Just scroll way down on the first page, where the copyright section is, beneath.

You can see the system codes on the back of the box in every game. Take a pen and a big sheet of paper with you next time you're looking for games in a shop.

Thanks again, SKTTR. That are really useful informations about the codes. I've never noticed them on the manual pages or boxes. Also thanks for the retail codes.

@Shinesprite: Thanks for posting the link to the WiiSave webpage. That is pretty useful too.

If all you have left is one or two game folders left then take a blank sd card and put only one folder on it at a time and pop it in the Wii. The wii Will tal you what game save or channel is on the card and you will only have one listing.

@Rob_mc_1: Ah, yes. That is also a pretty good idea. I've figured that out myself but thank you for reminding me on that.

@All: Thanks again. I didn't thought that there are so many ways to determine the codes. I really appreciate your help.

I would like to know the system code for

  • PAL Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition (UNCUT - all 5 extra games)
  • PAL Dead Space Extraction (UNCUT)

preferably the full code that's written on the disc, not the box.

I assume, since the data of the uncut versions is different than the data of the German cut, that the system code is different too?!
And maybe that's a good indicator to look out for - to get the version you want.

The problem is, I see many used copies of PAL Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, with marginally different boxes (at least 3 different versions) but I don't know which one to get. I already have Resi 4 on Gamecube, so if I get another version (and I want another version) it has to be the UNCUT Wii Edition.

What indicates that I have an UNCUT version? You know, would be unnerving to buy the game and play through it, just to see if the 5 extra games will unlock or not, and then take it back because you got the wrong version.

I don't own Resident Evil 4 for the Wii. I only have the Gamecube version.
According to a forum, which I've found with Google, the codes are as follows:
(Sorry to all others that I post the text in it's original german form, but using an automated translator would only mess up everything.)

For Dead Space I don't know, sorry.

...Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition ~ UNCUT PAL-Version [ALLE]: RVL-RB4P-EUR
...Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition ~ CUT PAL-Version: RVL-RB4X-EUU

Thankyou Omega, that really helps me a lot.

Now I have no more problems getting the uncut version.
I just have to look out for an X. If there is a X in the code it's the wrong (cut) version.

Switch fc: 6705-1518-0990

Omega

I don't know for sure but I think the uncut PAL version of "Dead Space Extraction" has the code "RZJP" whereas the german cut PAL version has the code "RZJD". So if this is true, it's the D that everyone wants to avoid.

Ωɱɛɡɑ

SKTTR

Do you know other Wii games that are cut in Germany?
Apart from "Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition" I know "Scarface: The World Is Yours" is cut. The uncut version is: RVL RSCP EUR on the disc and RVL P RSCP, RVL-RSCP-UKV on the box. There's no chainsaw and no movie trailer in the German version. It was banned regardless.
And "Dead Space Extraction" which has no lumps of bodies flying around and less blood.

Now... I've checked all my other controversial games, and all of them have the P, except "Cursed Mountain".
The disc says RVL-RQ6X-EUR-BO. The box says: RVL P RQ6X, RVL-RQ6X-NOE.
Does that mean there's a cut and uncut version of this game too?

I don't think that the X means that the game is cut. I also have Cursed Mountain (RQ6X) and Red Steel 2 (RD2X) and I've never heard that any of these two are cut in germany.

My theory is that games in germany can always have the end letter P, X or D but it doesn't necessarily mean that games with D or X are cut. Only if there exists a CUT version for the german market, then you can most likely recognize them based on the end letter D or X whereas the UNCUT PAL versions have the end letter P.

(As I said: Just a theory, I don't have any evidence to back it up.)
