Better you than me. I've tried playing through MP1 three times on the Game Cube (with varying degrees of seriousness) and every time I gave up at the $#@%)#$ Phazon Mines. I wonder if I'll do any better this time!
(Right now I've got the Gravity Suit and I'm about the explore the wrecked freighter, if I remember the game's sequence well enough. Taking a short break, though, in favor of Fallout 3. I'll return to MP1 after I'm bored of Fallout in 5,000 hours.)
It really does. I'm going to do some "easy" quests for a while. I don't think there are any guardians for me to take out right now, but the damned Pickle Gangster (or whatever) is hanging out somewhere, and there are a bunch of other things the citizens are asking me to investigate. I'll clear a few of those out before I even think about taking on another boss.
Ah well, let's not derail this thread too much. MP1 is appx. 200,000,000,000 better with motion controls! Yay!
I am in the magma caverns but I don't now how to not get hurt by heat.
You'll need to find the Varia Suit. It's possible that you shouldn't be in the magma caverns yet anyway...the game will guide you to the Varia Suit before it expects you to survive in a high-heat environment, so don't try to make a mad dash through a room that's quickly draining your health due to heat. That's what I used to do, and it doesn't work.
@castlehominid99: Just keep playing, you should get a hint on the map after a wii while (used to be after 20mins of aimless wandering). Assuming they've kept it the same as it was.
@castlehominid99: Best hint I can give you if you are lost (which you shouldn't be, tut tut ), is save the game, quit out and then reload it. You SHOULD then get some guidance as to where to go next. And yes, Prosody released me from avatar hell.

You've never beaten the Phazon Mines? How far into them do you remember getting, and what held you up?
Hopefully you'll conquer 'em this time with the two hundred billion times better controls.

I can't remember quite how far I got...each time it was a little different, but I certainly never progressed past them. The first time I think I just got sick of the constant ambushes and decided to put the game aside for a while. By the time I came back to it, it had been so long that I figured I might as well restart the game. The rest of the times, I think my patience for the mines was just pretty low. I'd get there, say, "Oh, THIS damn place..." and lose interest.
Which is pretty crazy, I admit. Playing through the game this time I remembered all the bosses, already had good low-damage strategies, and knew what items I'd need to face the next boss. But my comfort-zone is about to run out in the effing mines. From that point on, I know nothing!
I've developed carpal tunnel syndrome, or some other variation of repetitive motion injury, in both wrists and forearms; so my real concern is losing efficiency at work, but it also impacts my gaming. I might have to find Chicken's one-handed thread and look at the recommendations again -- but basically I'm reduced to pointer-only games, as the nunchuck causes sharp pains, and that means I'm hanging up MPTrilogy just a week after starting it

The nunchuck didn't cause it, it was long hours working on big projects at work lately (application development); I'm a very fast typist when I'm programming or working on databases, and I seem to have screwed the nerves in my hands by going overboard of late, so I have to rest them to heal -- moving my fingers quickly causes pain, so the nunchuck's buttons are not a good thing right now. The wii-mote is fine when I'm using it just to point and click on things, so long as I find a relaxed position and don't strain my wrist.

Also even on the new trilogy it is possible to get through Magmoor caverns without Varia suit and just skip to the gravity. But in the trilogy you still won't have it equipped until you get the varia.
Oh completion time 6:40 60% On GC Prime I could get under 3 hours
I think the world record is 1 hour 2 minutes.
Edit: I think I killed the fun for Prime 2 I'm only going to 100% on hard and hyper mode
