Topic: How far are you in Metroid Prime Trilogy?

Whoa, I had another awesome 6.5 hour marathon of Prime 2 that I just ended now. I did the majority of Torvus Bog and got through the Spider Guardian in Sanctuary Fortress. I hightailed it out of there and saved in Torvus Bog right above the Power Bomb boss.

The Grapple Guardian gave me a bit of trouble until I remembered just WTF I was supposed to do, but I surprisingly haven't died in Prime 2 yet. I did in Prime 1 once during the Omega Pirate, only because I was being stupid with missiles/walking through Phazon.

I'm stuck in MP2. I cant remember where the power bombs are. But I'm having fun.

MP1 down, with a depressingly low completion rate of 87%. Mercy me; I guess I missed more expansions than I thought.

The game is much easier (and better) with the new controls. I remember dying frequently on the GC. Now the only time I died was against the Omega Pirate.

Meta Ridley was a blast.

Metroid Prime itself almost killed me, because I didn't realize it had a second form, so when I saw his first form was nearly dead I just tanked into him, firing away, figuring I had nothing left to save my energy for.

That was dumb. But I still beat the second form with a lot of profanity. MP2 is next...but maybe not immediately.

Bwahaha, I didn't lose to the Omega Pirate! Though I only had 12 energy left. D:

I think you probably missed some scans, as they count as part of your percentage.

Ahh, okay, I know I did miss a few scans. All creatures, though. I checked toward the end of the game and saw that I'd found all of the research/pirate/chozo scans. It'll be a while before I play the game from the beginning again, though, I must confess. I also missed the flamethrower...I was in the crater before I remembered that I hadn't found it. Doh.

Also: I was on my way to get my last artifact from Phendrana's Edge when the hint system kicked in and told me to go to the crater and unlock it, even though I only had 11 artifacts. What the heck? Can you really get away with missing artifacts, or was that a glitch?

I'm STILL at Meta Ridley. Hopefully I'll get through that tonight.

Do you have Spider Ball? Power Bombs are at the bottom of Dark Torvus Bog! :3

Actually, that's not a glitch. It's just letting the player know where to go after they obtain all the artifacts, or to help them to be able to find all of the artifacts, since that's where all the hints for each one is located at.

Is it just me or is the Omega Pirate a bit harder in this version? I've never really had any trouble damaging his limbs before and it feels like forever to take one or two out, lol.

I don't know because I'm a n00b at Metroid Prime. But I know I'm hating this Omega Pirate. What is the easiest way for a person who "sucks at video games" to kill this thing? I managed to blow off his armor so he had to go and recharge. But how do I do the maximum amount of damage to him while he's recharging? Is he still vulnerable while he's recharging or is he only vulnerable while he's walking over to the phazon? If he's invulnerable once he's reached the phazon I might as well take care of the annoying little pirates while he's recharging.

What I'd really like to be able to do is finish him off before he restores his armor. Once I've blown off his armor, can I switch to the wavebuster or flamethrower and continuously nuke him (by holding down the button for continuous fire) until he's toast? Or is he going to recover his armor before anything I do can finish him off?

Arrgh. I confess I don't buy these kinds of games for the combat. I'm really only interested in the adventure and exploration aspect. The combat is just something I tolerate (barely).

Put your analyst on danger money, baby.

@ Zaphod Beeblebrox

When he's recharging, do not kill the smaller pirates first. When he disappears, switch to your x-ray visor and keep turning in circles to see which of the three phazon pools he's going to appear in. Do this while dodging the smaller pirate attacks. When you see him, use super missiles. Then when you've done all the damage you can do, kill the smaller guys. Repeat.

Thanks, Edwin. "Repeat." Ugh. I didn't want to hear that. I was hoping the flame thrower on continuous would roast him like a marshmallow once his armor was gone.

Actually, instead of repeating the process in this one, you can kill the Omega Pirate in one go. That's something that I was never able to do before on the GCN version. Just keep moving and jumping around to avoid the small Pirates and look for the big guy. Three to four super missles should finish him off, and you should be able to do it before he heals all of his armor.

If you wanna knock his armor off easy (I've heard about this but have not tried it yet) just lay a power-bomb at his feet. It should at least blow off his lower armor.

@Trevor--if you trip bomb jump pre-power bomb, you could probably get all the armor in one go.

@Zaphod - I'd stick to Super Missiles--much more efficient than either Wavebuster or Flamethrower in dealing quick damage, as Trevor suggested

Nah all you need is a single power bomb at his feet, you don't need to jump-power bomb or anything like that.
Though occasionally it'll miss one of his shoulder pads.
Really easy way to fight him.

Oh yeah, I've been sick for the past several days and have had a chance to make some progress.
I just restored power to the Torvus Temple.

I'm just about to fight Quadraxis I think. (SPOILER) Had 2 Dark Samus battles so far. I forgot how brilliant her battle music is! I wish there was an OST CD.

Finally fought a boss (Spider Guardian) that didn't require furious A-mashing.
I think I pressed A about 6000 times when fighting Chykka. Not so with the Spider Guardian!

Furious A smashing? Use your super missiles and charge beam!

"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." Matt. 1:21.

NotEnoughGolds

Chykka moves too much in insect form to use a charge beam.
And in Larva form, chykka is unaffected by missiles/super missiles.
Also when it's in insect form you need to use your seeker missiles, so you really shouldn't be wasting super missiles in the meantime.
