I know you're wondering about Nintendo Life's review, but I guess I'll mention that I'm aiming to get a review done soon. Just got to make further progress in the game before I can do so.
@KnucklesSonic8: Yes, I am anxious to read the Nintendo Life review but I am also looking forward to reading your review as well. I've been checking out your site lately and I have to say that I'm pretty impressed. I'm glad to hear that you are doing a thorough review of it. I hope the game turns out to be as good as it looks.
Review status update: I've been assigned two this week, HoopWorld and Scrabble Tools, and being the busy bee that I am I haven't had time to put this one through its paces yet. I'm working on the Scrabble review now and will try to get HoopWorld ready soon.
I can say that the hour I've played has been kinda fun for what it is. Don't care for the controls though; the motion is fine, but I'm finding the button layout a little unintuitive. I guess I need to play it more to wrap my brain fully around them, but I wish it didn't feel kinda random.
KS8, have you had any trouble with too much "waggling" in the motion controls like the reviewer did?
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
No. I'm too busy having fun to worry about it. I will admit that my hand was a bit tired one day, but I was playing a lot and during a really, really tense set of games. Honestly I've had no control issues whatsoever.
I do have some trouble with the controls for jumping (to block shots) and precision shooting. I finally figured out that the height of your jump coresponds to how long you hold the B button (which they should've told us in the "How to Play" section), but I'm still having some trouble timing my jumps. The precision shot meter is way too fast and automatically has you throw a brick if you wait past the first swing of the meter. At least I can avoid using the precision shots until I can learn to use it decently. Do you have any tips with that, KS8?
Overall, it's a very fun game. I've already beaten Easy and Normal tournament modes with one of the teams (with a Sudden Death Overtime win (after a tie in regulation time) in the finals of Normal difficulty. If only there was someone in my family who would play against me. My brother hates most sports games, but he does like the Wii Sports and Mario Sports games, so maybe I could convince him to give another arcade-style sports game a chance.

Tips? Not really, to be honest. It's more a matter of acting quickly. And even when I get it in the red zone, it doesn't 100% guarantee your shot will get in.
Nice discovery, BTW. Glad you find it to be a lot of fun too! I wish I could face you online.
@Bulbasaurus Rex: You should try and bribe your brother into playing the game with you. It sounds like it would be a lot more fun to play against a human opponent.
I don't have the game yet but I think I'm going to end up getting it after all. It looks like a lot of fun. I was going to wait and see what kind of DLC they are going to make for it but I'm not sure how long it will take for them to release it.
Sure am! I'll be reviewing it very soon. I'm just waiting until I unlock the second surprise before I do. I unlocked the first by beating Crazy Mode which was really, really hard. I did a video showing what it was, but it's obviously a spoiler for those who haven't gotten that far.
DLC will be added based on community response and what the fans want.
@KS8: That is interesting! I think that I will download this game to show my support. I was going to watch that video but I didn't want to spoil any surprises. I hope the DLC adds more teams and new courts because that should definitely add some longevity to the game. I can't wait to read your review too!
The video I posted earlier isn't the one I was talking about so feel free to watch that one. And yeah, I can't wait to find out what DLC they add. I'll definitely by buying new content for the game.
After reading this I think I'll buy it when it comes out in Europe. Looks like a fun mix between Street Hoops, Arch rivals and Mario Kart, and I have enjoyed playing all of them with my brother.
SPOILER: Watching the last KS8 video has reminded me of the EVA01 from Evangelion.
