Topic: Holy *$^&, the Wii sales are astronomically huge!

Can you believe this? Nintendo Wii has outsold the console that saved video games. Wow. They did it. The Nintendo Wii is officially Nintendo's best selling console.

Should this be a meaning of celebration? I say **** yeah!

First time I've ever seen a Nintendo home console not sell worse than the last. I'm pretty happy about this. I just wonder if it'll ever reach the PS2 in sales before the end of this console generation.

@BecomingTHE MAN: Wonder if anyone knows the sales of the PS2 in 2004? That juggernaut will be difficult to defeat.

@cheetahman91: If the Wii were to really outsell the PS1, then that would seriously be a lot of commotions. People are going to be shocked about how an system not geared towards "hardcore" gamers sold better then what is considered one of the best system ever created. I'll tell them that "Nintendo had an plan to attract an wider audience and from this sales projection, they have succeeded at this goal.".

Here's to hoping that it outsells the PS1 just for the kicks of Sony fanboys getting even more mad at the Wii and an even bigger accomplishment for Nintendo.

@Sylverstone: That would be an miracle to achieve, but prehaps it can be done, considering how well the Wii is doing. Remember when nobody thought anything could outsell the Playstation or the NES for that matter?

Let's not get crazy now. They could do it eventually but the major problem there is that the Wii isn't going to have the 10+ year lifespan the PS2 had (and still has since people still are buying it).

Wii outselling PS1 & PS2 annoying the Sony fanboys sounds funny, missing the target and annoying the Nintendo fanboys sounds equelly funny too , can't say I'll be out celebrating toasting Nintendos success and jumping for joy, of course I wish big N well, hope that success will be invested wisely in games and innovation for us to enjoy.

Once everyone has a happy box, Nintendo will use them to take over the world!

The Wii finally put an end to the curse, as for the DS it will surpassed PS2 this Year it only needs 13 Million more to reached and take over as the most successful Video Game system ever.

@RandomWiiPlayer: I meant the Playstation 2. I made a minor mistake there and I fixed it.

@kevohki: The Nintendo Entertainment System sold only sixty million systems and it had an nine year lifespan (Ten if you count the last NES game which wasn't legal) (Eleven in Japan since they got the Famicon in 1983). If the Wii has eight to ten years and the PS2 is dead by then, prehaps it'll have a chance, abide a small one.

Last I heard, Wii was selling better than PS2 at the same point in their lifecycle... which is pretty amazing when you consider it hasn't had nearly the software support that Sony's crown jewel received. But I agree with people saying it won't top the overall PS2 sales because I fully expect Wii to be replaced with a better (but still affordable) console much quicker than PS2 was.

@Iz2010: Yeah, while I do think the Playstation 3 is an great console, I would still say that the Playstation 2 had an superior lineup.

@ejamer: I also find it unlikely that the Wii will top the sales of the Playstation 2, but unlike the PS2, the Wii will probably be replaced with an much superior successor, just the the NES was suceeded by it's much superior SNES (Which I consider to be the best video game system ever created).
