Topic: Have you ever dropped your Wii ...?

During a lengthy Timesplitters 2 session this evening, I made the schoolboy error of getting up from the couch to answer the telephone (leaving the Gamecube controller on the arm rest, and the wire stretched across the room to the Wii, positioned some 4 feet up in a shelving unit).

...Now, just as I answer the phone, my dog comes bounding through from the next room to investigate, gets his paws tangled in the controller wire, keeps going, and yanks the Wii clean off the shelving unit and crashing onto the parquet floor - the horror!

The phone conversation is swift to say the least, and the dog, having ascertained it isn't Mum calling, hops out of the tangled mess and nonchalantly pads back into the other room and the comfort of his bed (nice work if you can get it) .

Fearing the worst, I stoop to inspect the damage. The Wii has been yanked from both the power and sensor bar leads and clean off its vertical stand (which, somehow, remains on the shelving unit???). The Gamecube controller is still attached, and, amazingly, the controller port flap (which I imagined would almost certainly be snapped or cracked) has escaped unscathed ...Surely there must be some cosmetic damage? Careful scrutiny of every inch of the Wii's casing, however, reveals not a single scratch or ding!

...And, best of all, I reposition the Wii in its stand, reconnect the wires, and it powers right up! ...What a trooper!!

So, have you ever dropped your Wii? ...Share your tales of woe/joy below...

Yea. While playing Kirby Air Ride on the Wii, I was using the Gamecube controller to play it. Of course, my super hyper cats were chasing each other, and one of the tripped over the controller cord, and down the Wii went, right off the shelf. I was SUPER lucky that it wasnt broken.

Well, I've had some cases of GC controllers getting yanked, but it's never horrible... and now we're smart enough to keep the wii on it's side, so it doesn't fall over.

No, but if you want I would happily drop someones Wii on the floor for them . Seriously though I caught it before when my twin nieces were arguing over playing Mario Kart with the Gamecube controller. Them silly rugrats do not understand why I do not let em play the Wii when they come up to the house anymore.

I falls a lot, although it's a mere three inch fall so it's okay. Also there's usually debris infront of it to help comfort the blow :l

All I can say is: Long live the Wavebird!!

Mine's been dropped for the same reason, however. It's just about a 1 1/2 foot fall, though.

nintendo makes their consoles resistant to abuse.. i don't think i've ever managed to break any of my nintendo strawberries.. my old brick gameboy must have fallen to the ground more times then I care to remember.

Back in late 2006, when Wiis were still rare, my 2 cats were chasing each other and one of them knocked over my Wii. I was playing F-Zero GX with a GCN controller at the time.

Mercifully, the GCN game disc didn't get dislodged and the only damage was the little plastic door that covers the GCN controller ports got knocked off (a $1.00 part).

My sister, her friend, and I were playing Brawl, and they chose to use Gamecube controllers. I ended up nearly tripping over the controller cords, knocking over the Wii in the process. Fortunately, the only damage was a paint scratch.

The worst mine has gone through was falling on its side from pulling on the Gamecube controlers. I think it happened only a few times.

That's the problem I have with playing with a Gamecube controller on my Wii, the cord being too short. There are the recent white Gamecube controllers you can order that has a cord of an extra meter long and the Z-button not having to be pressed as hard: http://www.amazon.com/Official-Nintendo-Classic-Gamecube-Wii-...

Mine situation is kinda similar except it's my cousin and me we where also playing brawl but i set up the Wii with stand instead just leaving it flat while playing a bit far distance while playing Brawl Intensive we excitdently pull our Gamecube controller causing the Wii to fall, the disc kinda got scratched it's still work do both of them only a bump on my Wii is soul mark left of that horrible day but it thought me a lesson that the stand is a danger thing to put your Wii in when you have friend/family while playing combative multiplayer games like brawl and Mario kart. So i keep it Flat all the time and a strict rule not to play far away unless your playing with a Wireless Controller.

The Wavebird is your friend.

I am the one you despise. I am he who says what you really deep down know but are affraid to admit. I am the Anti-Fanboy, the crusader of truth in a world built on your lies.

Not yet. When I need a Cube controller, I either use a Wavebird or a controller extension cord.

oh but i dropped my wii controller. those things are tough. it fell from about four feet and it only had a paint scratch. Nintendo is the ultimate. i bet if you dropped an xbox it would crack or break

How is it even possible to drop your wii after you have already set it up?!? Have you set it up yet or not I must ask because if you did, that would be just strange. There is one thing for sure and that is that I haven't dropped mine and I probably never will...
