I just got it as a christmas gift. Only played a little over an hour so far. I'm not really sure what to think of it yet but the graphics are certainly pretty. I'm kinda worried it will be over very quickly and I'll be left feeling let down. Some people talk like it's an essential Wii purchase so that's what made me want it. It's basically a beat em up with Rpg elements and most games like that are never quite as epic. Is it in your collection?

For me its a dissapointing game, great grafics but just a buttonsmasher - slash everything gameplay, the "moves" are more or less like playing a Final Fight or Streets of Rage ( SOR had more moves ) I played it a few times now - but its definitely a dustcatcher in my Wii games collection
Yes, there are two stories, so there is at the minimum 12 hours of gameplay (if you play on the easy mode). After you beat the end, you can collect the rest of the swords. You can also play the harder difficulty which will demand some levelling up and extra strategy.
Yeah, if you think its just a button-masher, you played the easy mode.
I actually found the combat to be pretty deep and have not found myself button mashing yet. I love anime and traditional japanese art so this game was perfect for me. BTW Link79 you should never buy a game just because its deemed an "essential title" as you'll often be disappointed if its not the type of game your interested in.

I do like this type of game but it's not my favorite. Maybe it will grow on me after a while.

There actually is a fairly high learning curve when it comes to the mid to endgame combat, especially in Shura-mode. If you liked Ninja Gaiden and Okami, Muramasa is a pretty safe bet I'd say. It's one of the few games I avoided selling off to fund my broke college-student budget this year XD
All in all, though, I think it's one of the more solid true platformer/brawlers available on the Wii... if not the ONLY true platformer/brawler.
Muramasa was one of the best games released for the Wii this year. I enjoyed it more than NSMBW. I think it deserves the GOTY award from NL, it's that good!
Yeah, if you think its just a button-masher, you played the easy mode.
exactly. if you button mash in shura you won't survive past the first boss; you can't set the game to easy and then complain that it's too easy.
i love muramasa, but the combat system can get frustrating; there will never be enemies in an area when you enter it, your sword will be sheathed and your only job is to pass through the scenery. enemies will attack at random and then the game changes to a combat mode, where you'll be able to use your sword and usually be unable to move out of the current spot until your enemies are dead.
it gets a little boring when you're exploring a level in 'normal' mode with no threat from enemies, no obstacles to avoid, just moving from point A to point B. it can also be a little limiting to have to stay in one place while fighting in the 'combat' mode. i really wish it were set up like metroid or any other 2d classic, where your enemies are there when you enter a room and you're free to fight them or sneak past. i imagine it'd be pretty fun to scale the cliffs in some of the levels to avoid enemies below...
otherwise it's great. the artwork alone is worth the cost, but the fighting is fun enough to play all the way through as well.
No, but I'm wanting it...tried renting it but apparently it "never even existed" yet. >_> Stupid rental stores...I got A Boy and His Blob though. XD (and Spirit Tracks)
