hey peoples. lately goldeneye has been really frustrating me. just the usual stuff: leveling, host quits, etc. i've been lookung up videos of conduit 2 and it looks really good. it brings back good memories of conduit 1. and all the maps aren't brown! i just want people who have played both games's opinions on which is better and why.

I own both. Obviously, GE has the better singleplayer. Conduit 2's online is good, because it fixes most if not all the online problems from the first game. I too got tired of GE's technical problems, and I haven't had nearly as many with Conduit 2. Conduit 2's online is not international though.
I'm not saying which one is better, because they both cater to different audiences.
goldeneye's advantages- *longer, overall better single player game with a lot of depth, more consistent level design and art direction. the music and acting in particular are so much better it's embarassing for conduit 2. *excellent (if redundant) weapons, the physics and sound design really make you feel like you really have the gun in your hands *best wii remote controls ever, lots of options and great physics.
the downside is that there are glitches EVERYWHERE, no patching system, no host migration, and cutscenes aren't skippable.
Conduit 2 doesn't have those problems but it's a little lamer overall. the online seems to run consistently choppy and people jump around like idiots, making it really hard to pin them down even with lock on. the controls just aren't as good, fewer options and really jittery feeling. the guns are really creative but to the point of being impractical to use, you can't just find one all around good gun.
you could say its technical graphics are better at times, but not for the whole game overall. it's got fun online modes with a lot of variety and unlocking every weapon could be completed in a single day if you wanted to. it's overall much less frustrating to play than goldeneye but i also find it less fun, it just doesn't have that addictive quality. your choice!
Haven't played Conduit 2 but I do know Goldeneye worked just for being really fun despite not being anywhere near the biggest or most epic game ever. Which alone makes it better than 90% of modern day FPSs. So I guess it would depend if Conduit 2 is in the other 10% or not.
i really didn't like goldeneye's single-player at all. i just can't get into it. i don't want the games for their single player anyway. i'm level 16 on ge and the "fun" factor everyone talks about hasn't become relevant yet. i remember enjoying conduit 1 a lot more than ge. but it got stolen so i can't play it. pistols actually killed on conduit!

that's the lamest thing about goldeneye, i hate how pathetic they made the pistols. if there's one solid advantage conduit 2's got it's that the USP pistol you start with is awesome.
love the hawksman but frankly it still blows. the hip fire is so bad on GE's pistols that i regularly empty whole clips with the cursor dead on (i know it's on cause it's red) without any hits. in conduit you can hip fire like crazy and still get headshots across the map, which i love. conduit's machine guns are also really slow and don't put up as much competition for a pistol as goldeneye's guns.
The biggest factor for me is the controls. C2 is too jittery for my liking and I'm having trouble adjusting the RIGHT control settings where in GE I had NO trouble at all
C2's controls really aren't that bad as long as you play a bit of Invasion and just muck around with the controls. I say Invasion because of the enemies, it helps you get a feeling to the controls by actually shooting things than walking around a empty plot of land.
GE is an amazing game, but its multiplayer is really let down, Host Quits, very steep Leveling system and has a fair few glitches which EuroCom don't even care about... its almost as if EuroCom made it and now abandoned it. It also has the problem of freezing if things get too hairy on screen (for example: too much smoke, gun fire etc.) or your Wii overheats and freezes, this is also due to the engine EuroCom used.
C2's multiplayer is also let down by jumping monkeys, a some what laggy feel and (even in single player) incosistent frame rates, so much so that it will slow right down and goes at a snails pace, this isn't just lag to the extreme but a completely crap engine that can't seem to cope with all that much action on screen at one time.
Conduit 2 is amazing for online, but to enjoy it you really need to lower your expectations and just hope a patch will come out to fix the jumping. GE is amazing for single player, the multiplayer could've been handled better and with lag, glitches and freezes a plenty, its hard to warrant it as a "good" FPS.
Both have some severe problems that need to be tackled to make it a much better experience, thankfully C2 can be updated/patched, but it seems GE is all its ever going to be, a fun, yet a really shoddy, game.
Both games are fun. As to which one is better, it is difficult to say. I personally enjoyed Goldeneye's single player much more than Conduit 2's. However, Conduit 2 supports patching for the multiplayer, giving the developers the ability to fix glitches and hacks as they arise, something that I wish Goldeneye could do. Also, I liked that Conduit 2 supports split-screen competitive and Cooperative play, although I wish HVS had mad invasion mode playable online as well. Both games are fun and I have greatly enjoyed both, but I think that Conduit 2 may be played more in the long run.
I didn't enjoy either of them at all and both were traded in withing a month of my purchase. Thus, this battle, in my books, ends in a stalemate. (Though I do like that shiny gold classic controller that I paid extra for)
