Actually that's another mild inaccuracy on IGN's part. There is SOME interaction with NPCs. Not a lot, but still there is some. I've found the customer comments below the reviews more informative than the reviews thusfar - that's excluding Nintendofuse's review of the game.

Has anybody got any more impressions? NL revw imminent?

Got a 7.0 IGN and 5.0 Destructoid. However, both have a reputation, as many of us know on NL, of being very unreliable as reviewers.

Destructoid is very reliable when its reviews aren't blatant trolling. I don't care about this game enough to check if this is one of those reviews.

I can tell you that it is in fact one of their trolling/ignorant reviews. The reviewer complains about the volleyball minigame not letting you control your character's movement, when in fact you unlock the advanced mode with direct control over your character the second time you play the game. This proves that the reviewer didn't bother to play any of the minigames more than once. Same thing happened with IGN's review.

They are probably missing the best parts of the game then, for example... when you do the car racing you need to go back and do it again, there isn't just the same track over and over, there are 21 tracks! more than some racing games even have. It even lets you choose motorcycle racing, and it's better than some of the racing games on the Wii.

You can even run them over with a vehicle (trust me, I tested this extensively), and they'll simple reel back, then two seconds later have a huge smile and a music note of happiness popping out of their head. Unsettling, to say the least, and a real buzz kill

IGN reviews have gotten so predictable. Not every game needs to be GTA.

...in my pants.

It makes for a fun distraction, it doesn't have to be blood and gore. Even Animal Crossing residents can react negatively. Anyway, it's not even the entirety of the review.

80 percent ONM. They really liked it.

I just rented this and played through all 4 resorts. I played nearly every activity in the game and fooled around a bit with some other features.

If you guys have any questions about the game, feel free to ask me.

Are all the mini-games playable from the beginning or do you have to unlock them?

Well, you start out at the Marine Resort as I recall and you can play any of the minigames at that resort when you want. However, I think you have to play a certain number before you unlock the other resorts. It's pretty easy and quick to do though.

Thanks, it was moreso to do with my kids playing it wrt unlockables. Also, how would YOU rate the game overall?

I've unlocked all the games in it. Most of them are much better than what you find in other mini game collections. Once you unlock each game it gets added to the main menu so you don't have to go look for it again. Also if you like exploration then this is the game to get, you could spend hours exploring and finding all the items.

As for the amount of content in the game I'd give it a 10 out of 10 but considering everything I'd give it an 8.5 overall.

I'd give it a 6 or a 7. Many of the minigames don't use motion controls the way they should. For instance, mini golf fails to come anywhere near Wii Sports golf. However, quite a few minigames are fun. Also, driving/skating/skiing around the resorts is tons of fun. The City Resort is like a giant skate park, which reminds me of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. But the driving should have allowed for more control options.

The whole game should've allowed for more control options. It's a crime that it got released this way. It's still fun but it's a constant battle against the controls. I mean, why pilot motor vehicles in a Wii game without using the remote sideways? Sheer laziness.

LEGEND_MARIOID

Got it through the post this morning. What you lot are saying are precisely the positives and negatives that the reviewers are. I think it could've been a 9/10 IF not for some bizarre control choices.

"They say video games are bad for you? That's what they said about rock n' roll."

SigourneyBeaver

Definitely. However, after reading in some reviews that skydiving and volleyball are some of the wors events, I really like them. Can't say I like surfing though. Don't last very long on the wave at all.
