I imagine the shame he is feeling is to be unbearable. As deserving as it is though.
As a professional writer (if you still want to call him that) that is something that will haunt and follow him forever. It will be hard to bounce back from, at least as far as a new job is concerned.
Don't sites do this all the time(Post reviewsfor other sites)? I always got mad when i'd look for reviews at different sites and it was the exact same review. Like can't you come up with your own damn review?
As long as they list where they got it its legal isn't it? Or can they only use parts?
Normally when another site posts a review, it's merely a portion of the review and a link back to the original. This is giving credit for it. But if you take someone's review and put your name on it as if you've written it yourself, it's plagiarism. And it's still customary to ask the reviewer or site for permission to put a section of the review up on your own site.
How did he not think he'd get caught?? If he copies of a major site like IGN, and puts it in a major magazine like GamePro, there's no way people won't notice!! It's just...plain...stupidity.

It was apparently not for the main magazine, just a sub-section blog (though Metacritic considers it a part of GamePro) and my guess would be that he thought none would care about some random WiiWare game that looked like shovelware to him anyway.
Hey Corbie, someone on the NeoGAF forums looked into this guy's other reviews and found that he also plagiarized your review of Final Fantasy IV: After Years. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=16602716&postc... I wonder if this clown's ever written anything original in his life.
Well he's been fired, not much else can be done. I actually feel sorry for someone that has to copy other people's material. If you're going to pursue a career in journalism, you've got to have the skills to do it. If not, you'd better find another occupation.
Getting canned for plagiarism is bad enough, but getting canned for plagiarizing a review of such a lame title would have to make you want to just stick your head in the sand.

lame title? I think most people here on NL would disagree with that

The "it's shovelware" assumption is apparently very frequent on NeoGAF as well. I wouldn't be surprised if that kind of thinking was what led Ramsey to produce an outlier score which made me look into the review. Also I'd have left it at a comment on the review if their comment system wasn't somehow incompatible with my browser...
They've now erased all of Andrew's material on the site and here is the GamePro Arcade announcement:
Following the plagarism issue. July 09, 2009 5:36 PM Tae Kim
Yesterday, we had a troubling development on GamePro Arcade that was brought to our attention by members of the NeoGAF forums. You can see the original NeoGAF thread here as well as our initial response to the situation. The long and short of it is that we had to let one of our contributing writers, Andrew Ramsey, go due to an issue with plagiarism. After some careful investigation, we’ve come to the unfortunate realization that Andrew's transgressions are wider in scope than we first thought. After much deliberation, we have made the decision to erase all of Andrew’s posts from GamePro Arcade.
It wasn’t an easy decision to make but in the end, we feel that it is the right thing to do. We take our journalistic integrity very seriously and we felt that the only fair thing to do for everyone involved was to delete Andrew’s entire body of work. We cannot fully express the regret that we feel over this situation and we apologize to you, our readers. We cannot erase what happened but we can take proactive steps to ensure that something like this will never occur again.
This situation will now serve as a powerful reminder to every member of our network that we have a responsibility to do our jobs in a professional and ethical manner. We will also use this as an opportunity to take a closer look at our editorial process to ensure that this never occurs again.
Again, we apologize for the trouble this ordeal has caused. If you have any thoughts or questions on this matter, please do not hesitate to send me a note.
