To anyone thats bought them all, and played them all, is their an order to the 300 point stories? I just bought 1000 points, and plan to get three of them, and would rather go with the more interesting characters first, if they arent in order (Lunarians, namely, to see whats become of Golbez. Thanks to Dissidia!)

Further, if I start playing any of them, will I spoil the base game? (I'm still playing that on days that I'm in a retro mood, but Dissidia has sparked interest in the entire FF series again, so this'll likely change) The saves are entirely seperate for each chapter right?

If you play the whole base game you really spoil Porom's chapter. Also bit's of Yang's and Edward's. I highly recommend you play them in the order they were released in Japan.

prologue & ceodore's tale (base game until completed mist cave)
rydia's tale
yang's tale
palom's tale
edge's tale
porom's tale
edward's tale
kain's tale (second half of base game)
lunarian's tale
Crystals (End Game)

Play them like this to get the most out of the story. Hope this is what you were looking for .

EDIT: As far a saves go yes you need to create a seperate file for each chapter. Except you save Ceodore's + Kain's together. DO NOT save over a completed chapter. You don't want to have to redo all your work.

Cool, thanks. I would have completed the whole base game first normally, good to know I should avoid that.

@JayArr, thanks I would've completed the whole base game, I'll download Rydia's Tale if Cave Story is 900 points or less.

How long is each add-on?

The prolouge and end game are 4-6 hours each.

The character chapters are each 2-4 hours each but include Challenge Dungeons that add an additional 1-3 hours to them.

I honestly can't recommend this game enough to fans of the original FFIV.

Really? If I don't get this, I might get FF1. Or wait for V and VI.

@Starkiller
I woudn't wait for V, the Snes/Famicom Version was never oficially translated to english.
So it's very probably that square won't release it on VC.

Oh. Darn. I might have trouble tracking down a copy of FFV advance.

As far as waiting for FFVI, I assume you mean for VC, it could be a really long wait. Other than FF1 Square has only confirmed a VC release of FFIV.

Another important point is with all the chapters FFIV:TAY cost $37 where FF1 only cost $5.

I know. For a game that got so many mediocre reviews, I may not be willing to pay that much. But if I do buy it, forces beyond my control will make me buy every tale.

FYI, it's not the end of the world if you save over a completed game once you've started your final chapter (and imported all requisite save datas) I know some people use the EDIT: Mark Wahlbergh/FuSoYa chapter to farm adamantite (which happens to be the one I saved over with the final game data sigh). TBH, any order works really, as they all take place in approximately the same timeframe and the overlaps change how interesting the later stories are....at any rate, I thought Yang's and Edward's chapters were the least interesting and easiest to do without (whereas the Edge and FuSoYa chapters were my favorites, and Palom's was really good too although gameplay-wise, not quite as fun).

Great game though--coming down the final stretch at the moment and leveling all my crappy characters.

EDIT: Thanks JR - didn't realize...has been changed.
