I got epic mickey for christmas and after loading the game the system(or game) read "system needs updated(paraphrasing)". I do not have a router for internet use and the system was saying "..updating". after doing this twice the game icon finally displayed on the Wii menu and the game began to play. why was there a need to update for this game and after two times the game did start. any ideas?

Some games include updates on the disc if they need them to work. They should install automatically without the need for any internet connection, as in this case. No idea why it happened twice though, maybe there were two updates the game needed.

If you don't have an internet connection, then buying certain games is the only way to obtain these updates, and these games require said updates to work on your Wii. But they're installed in the game so it can happen without internet. As Imerion said though, no clue why it happened twice.

"Oooh, yes I said it! I said it! I said it 'cause I caaan!"

I think I had the same thing happen when I loaded Super Mario All-Stars for the 1st time. No big deal, I guess, just a little tedious.

Exactly.

If you haven't updated your wii system for quite a while and you buy a newer game, the system may require multiple updates/patches
to be installed.
