Hello all,
hCan someone help me please? I have just joined the Wii generation and this is my first time on the Nintendo website. I have been looking at the virtual games and would love to be able to play Alex the Kidd and Toejam and Earl, but can't for the life of me figure out how I get these games... do I get them through the Wii?
If someone could point me in the right direction I would much appreciate it!
Thanks
Sue

1.Purchase Wii/Nintendo points at a store or Wii Shop channel.
2. Click on Wii Shop Channel on your Wii Menu.
3. Click on Virtual Console and select the classics you want. Or if you want new games select Wii Ware.

Toe Jam and Earl is currently on sale so I would try to pick it up soon.

Hey Sue - welcome!

Straight from Nintendo's website is a helpful guide to getting your Wii online and accessing the Wii Shop Channel. Hope that will help!

Just an additional note for information - Toejam and Earl is not compatible with the component cable (if thats what you're using). Other cable options should be fine though.

There details about this on each games information page via the shop.

Thank you all for your kind welcome, it is much appreciated.
I went on the Wii last night, but could not find the two games I was after! Toejam and Earl and Alex the Kidd - Miracle World were the two games I was after and they are in the online catalogue, so I am confused as to why it could not find them. Any ideas?

Not looking in the right spot? Maybe you could search for the name in the search feature on the wii shop channel

I did search for the name, as I thought that would be the easiest way to find it. I am going to try again in a minute... maybe it was having a funny 5 minutes last night! lol

Your best bet is probably to just search by console. I've noticed a few discrepancies with searching by name (like when I tried to find Gunstar Heroes, the word "gunstar" brought up no results). Just click your way through to Sega Genesis and flip through the pages from there.

Bacon, RPG elements and cute girls, what more could you want?

I have done a title search this morning and both games were there! I have no idea why they were not there last night... oh well I have them now

I had forgotten how much I liked Toejam and Earl! Now all I need is for them to put Chucky Egg on there and I will be very happy!!

How much of that article was speculation, vs. being Nintendo-stated fact that didn't pan out for some reason? It talks about free VC games as bonuses with Wii retail titles as well as developers making NEW games using SNES programming and releasing them on VC. Neither of these things ever happened.

Actually I'm pretty sure Nintendo has given away VC games with retail releases -- weren't people able to download Super Mario Bros. if they pre-ordered some Nintendo game, or am I remembering that wrong?

I think they did some sort of promotion with prime trilogy too. If you already had a game in the series registered you could get a free copy of NES metroid, I think.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

I don't know about what Sean Aaron said, but that Metroid deal Token Girl mentioned was Europe-only.
