@Magi: really? how can you have no interest in at least trying what's often touted as one of the best franchises in gaming history???
I never said I've never played them. In fact, I own the GC one, whichever one that is. I'm just saying that if I were any more indifferent towards them, I'd be in a coma.
I'm not too crazy about SSB. Yes, I've tried the games (well, the first two), it's just that I can't get into any fighting game even if it isn't a traditional fighter. I'm not saying it sucks and people are stupid for liking it, but I've found you either LOVE the game or you really couldn't care less about it.
I am the one you despise. I am he who says what you really deep down know but are affraid to admit. I am the Anti-Fanboy, the crusader of truth in a world built on your lies.
SSB = Delicious nostalgiasauce SSBM = One of my favorite GCN games ever, and the only one in the series I take seriously as a fighter SSBB = bleh

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
The people who say it requires no skill are, to be honest, idiots. If anything it requires MORE skill than other fighters. You can't just button mash in SSB because the arena design makes it so that you can get away from someone combo-spamming you. Want something with no skill involved? Play Street Fighter or Killer Instinct. I can beat both of those by simply spamming special attacks, whereas with Smash Bros, even after years of practice, I have a hard time beating classic on very hard.
The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.

The only person who you can truly spam with is Meta-Knight. Exclude him and it's very hard to spam.
I love this game with burning passion! I already poured over 800 hours into this gem of a game. And yes, theres skill involved such as timing with evades and meteor smashing, recovery, and the mixture of offense and defense.

Not really, spamming is just more effective against a not so good opponent in a traditional fighter as opposed to SSB. SSB is easier to be decent at since attacks and such are more simple to perform. Very Hard in Smash Bros is only hard because of the stupid matches against giant, metal, or multiple foes at once, when the odds are more even it's really easy.
Also what is this "combo-spamming" term? Comboes tend to require skill, which is something spammers tend to lack.

Not sure. I had something in mind at the moment of writing it, but I forget what it was

I'm in the slim minority who played Earthbound before Super Smash Bros.
Ditto. I'm clearly a bigger fan of RPG's in general than you are, but I do love Earthbound. Usually, my avatar on NLife is Earthbound-related (most often something involving Ness), but I changed it due to Pokéfever.
I think it's awesome how so many people who don't even usually like RPG's like Earthbound (you, Miyamoto, and Yatzee from Zero Punctuation spring to mind, and I know there are others). It's really something special...but this isn't an Earthbound thread, so...back to the Smash talk!
I'm somewhere in the middle. I love playing the games, but am not a big fan of the Nintendo roster (except for F-Zero characters, which there aren't many of).
"Don't make enemies, they'll stab your heart; don't make friends, they'll stab your back. Including me, including you, all men are trash. Don't love; don't be loved. Have nothing to do with other; live in isolation."
The game has chaotic frame data. No skill involved in pulling off moves. You cant buffer in moves properly. A tier list is not worth is since it only has a few buttons.
Ive played fighting games for years in the arcade 1991 to present and at home and have attended tournaments with respectable results. Came 4th in a SF3 third strike tournament at funland trocadero. Whenever a SSB tournament is held its the younguns playing it or nintendo heads who do not know how to play street fighter properly. There is no kind of depth that can be applied to the multiplayer gaming of this and that is what the games audience is.
