Topic: Do you care about the condition of your consoles?

I have OCD, so if my Wii, or DS, etc gets a mark on it I feel like my life is over.

Do you care if your consoles get scratched/cosmetically damaged? How does it affect you?

I like to keep my consoles clean, especially if they are handhelds. I can't stand dust getting on my Wii's air filter, so I try to clean it every once in awhile.

Gavintendo

I'm the same with keeping 'em shiny and clean.

Scuffs and scratches don't bother you then?

On handhelds, definitely, but I'm more lenient on a home console. Unless it is a huge colored scuff mark or something. In that case, I'd flip out x-(

No. I love seeing my consoles destroyed by neglect. /sarcasm

I'm not really picky about dust on home consoles, but I'll wipe them down every so often. I'm more annoyed when dust gets on the surfaces and screens of handhelds.

Although I hate when you've had friends over, and then your controllers get all greasy and grimy. Ick.

i'm guessing that people that care about their stuff will care the same way about their consoles..

You're no way worse than me. I can't even stand it if there are scratches or dents on my boxes going as far as not buying rare games because of dents on the clear plastic if they penetrate to the paper label. I spend lots of time looking at game cases, so much so that people that don't know me think I'll steal them and people that do know me, know to hand me 5 or 6 copies of the same game at one time. My past and current girlfriend also know that its a quirk of mine and deal with it.

I can't stand seeing any of my consoles in rough shape, if I see one scratch on my DS I get angry. Of course it's inevitable though, unless you never take a console out of the box it will get damaged over time.

As for consoles, I don't really care except for if it's huge, which then I kinda flip out about. As for handhelds, I try to keep the screens as clean as possible.

I like scuffs and dents, it gives it a little character. So long as it works I'm happy.

What I can't stand is touching touch screens with my finger. I would never use a DS without a stylus. I would never own anything which even remotely resembles an iPhone or iPad. I will not touch any screen I have to READ. What kind of design is that?

I'm perfectly fine with touch pads (not screens!) on notebooks. Don't have to READ the touch pad. It's an input-only device.

Put your analyst on danger money, baby.

I guess I just feel like my ____ isn't as good as everyone elses or that it isn't "true" anymore if it somehow gets scratched.

I have serious mental issues

If I asked for reassurance as to why I shouldn't let cosmetic damage bother me, how would you convince me?

I must admit I also have OCD,so I clean my consoles every month or so and my controllers every 1-2 weeks or so.

Considering the money you have to dish out for consoles, handhelds and games, it makes sense for people to be extra careful with them.

my wii is a mess. i keep the game cube memory and controller panals off, the disk drive wont automatically feed in the wii games, so i have to physically push them in, and poke my finger in the slot to push the disk into place. i leave my wii controllers on the windowsill, 2 of my gamecube controllers are plugged in and left on the floor. oh and the wii shell is grubby.
BUT, i do have all of the boxes and cases stored away neatly in my cupboard.
all true.

@Gavin: You are aware of the problem which is half the work, now it's just a case of mind over matter. Don't let it annoy you.

Do I care? Well yeah, ofcourse I do. Anybody who owns any console should take good care of it.
My systems are in either really good or in perfect condition.

Who wouldn't? It's my duty to my wallet to make sure it stays working and intact.
Seriously though, I don't know anyone above the age of 11 that has a moderately working brain that wouldn't want their possessions of any kind in good condition.

@Gavin Rozee: I guess me and you have different reasons regarding condition. For me, I'm a collector, I don't ever want to buy something that has been damaged by anyone else and I'd like to have the best possible copy for my collection. It seems like you just want to keep your items undamaged, so maybe you should invest in protective films like Zagg Invisishield
http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/gaming/
Put one of those on your items and you won't need to worry about your items getting scratched anymore. Apparently the material heals itself and its supposedly a high military grade. I've seen demonstrations where people try to damage their items on purpose to no avail.
