I recently bought Battalion Wars 2 and for the first 40% I thought it was brilliant, engaging and fun and with just the right difficulty but since the Anglo Isles campaign it's just nosediving, the difficulty is just silly because strategy goes to waste when they're attacking with the multiple different types and you can't stop and micromanage stuff and the aerial controls don't work too well. I'm on the bomber level and it's just too frustrating, not to mention that the enemies do tons of damage and there's no checkpoints.
Does it get better of keep declining? I don't know if I can be bothered finishing it... I have tons of other games to finish.

I'd say skip it. I LOVE Advance Wars, but hated the first Battalion Wars and never gave the 2nd one the time of day just because there was very little strategy. I tried revisiting it about a month ago and it's back in the dusty corner of my collection
I didn't mind that it was a strategy-lite, action style game but the strategy pretty much goes out of the window because of how fast the enemies are and how much damage they do.
For instance on the last level I did you get some submarines first and then meet up with some frigates, when you do you get told that there's an enemy battleship nearby and that you need to sneak up in the sub and destroy it but because of the range and speed of the them the battleship is already shooting at you frigates and by the time you destroy it one of the frigates is at half health!

I didn't buy the game in principle after I heard that the game will be out of print, which will kill the online, and also I hate the fact they didn't include "Nintendo club points" with the title... and I hate the fact that this is supposed to be an RTS (which I love) but without pointer controls I heard.. ugh.
So ends a saga older than time itself. The World's oldest and fiercest army has been led to victory, and a lost generation is delivered from its fear of extinction. As the sun sets over the field of conflict the dinosaurs disperse, hoping never to set foot in this place a...

Well you got the game totally wrong then.... it does have Club Nintendo points included with it, it isn't an RTS and it has pointer controls(you shoot with them). The game is more like a squad based shooter. Also all games except the few evergreen titles go out of print, that isn't what kills the online, what kills the online is the game bombing!

oh, you're sure about the club Nintendo points?? I remember reading that it didn't - that's surprising.. hmm. well I guess if you say it's not good, it doesn't matter. I didn't know you shoot with the pointer, didn't think about that.. but I guess i wanted it to be an RTS and not to move between units with the D-pad which is what I've read. But yeah.. I guess I got some of it wrong.

I never played the wii version. I didn't much care for the Gamecube version at all. The difficulty seemed to be based less on strategy and more on reflexes and micro management that was made ever harder by an irritating control scheme. I remember getting quite far into the game but didn't really enjoy it so swiftly traded it in. I've seen the wii version going for as little as £5 but still haven't been tempted.
I love strategy games but BWii is not one of them. If that's what you looking for, you'll definitely be disappointed. HAL labs released a Fire Emblem to the DS last year, I would welcome a new Fire Emblem or an Advanced Wars to the Wii in 2010.
I loved the original but BWii just couldn't keep it together. The game also got hyped quite a lot and hinted a features which would have improved on the original considerably but never appeared.
Personally, I think Military Madness: Nectaris sucks too and is in no way worth the 1.000 asking points if you own the original. By all means, buy it if you want the game on XBLA but otherwise I suggest going with the original - it might not look pretty but for 400 points less it's much better value for money.
I've not played a lot of the games BWii is being compared with on this thread but I completed the game and really enjoyed it I also went online a fair bit and there was always decent games to be found, coop or competetive. Plus I got club nintendo points.
For me it's like Command and Conquer but from a third person perspective and with motion controls thrown in as well.
Glad I'm not the only one then, I saw a lot of positive comments about it and it started out really well I thought and I was really enjoying it but it's got to an absolutely infuriating point now and the fact that there is no checkpoints is a major oversight(shared with De Blob).

I thought the game was ok... but not good enough to keep in my collection. The single player story levels never quite came together for me. Even though the game had the polish and shine you expect from a Nintendo title, it never had that hook to bring me back for more. (Some people will disagree of course.)
Sadly, the lack of voice chat really killed off an otherwise strong online mode. That's a real shame because if the game had WiiSpeak support then online play would have been much more appealing.

Third or first? C&C an RTS is 3rd person, from the top..

This game is good, but too easy imo (not super-easy, but compared to BW1 it is). I think that BW 1 is much better (even though I haven't gotten close to finishing it...). But online is actually pretty good, and if someone disconnects because they're losing, you get the win!
