I'm thinking of getting the black wii when it arrives, but what do I do with my downloaded games on my old one? Can I have Nintendo transfer them to my new console or how do I go about it?

I know they're able to transfer Shop Channel accounts from one console code to another, and by doing so, the downloadability and playability of games you already acquired. This is what they do in the case of warranty Wii service and replacement. I'm unaware of whether or not they will do so for user-preference reasons. In any case, I'd bet money they wouldn't let you keep them on both systems, but it doesn't sound like that's your plan anyhow.

As I already have stated. Future features I sure would like to see...

Being able to move downloadabe titles between our own Wiis.

In a perfect world I would be able to lend my friends my downloaded games just as they can lend my disc based games. Of course lending a game to a friend should make it unplayable to me until game is returned.

In an even more perfect world I should be able to sell my downloaded games. It´s certainly good for me, It sure doesn´t matter to buyer. And for multiple reasons it would be good to Nintendo.
First: It could be a fee of 100 points to sell a game. I get 400, buyer pays 500, nintendo gets 100 points. As a seller I only get points, never cash, all cash paid by buyer 1 and 2 stays in Nintendo points world.
Second: The Nintendo users would be the most satisfied users as we can sell the games we don´t longer want.
Third: It would put more preasure on devs producing the stuff we want.

Selling downloaded games could be totally invisible to the secondhand buyer. I as buyer one just tells the wii shop channel that I don´t want this title anymore. Not until the moment somebody buys the same title in the wii shop I get what I paid -100 points.
I think all parties would gain from it in the long run. Also... I wouldn´t nag about a demo function anymore. And best of all... I would get rid of Texas Holdem Poker

Mange, there's no way that your "more perfect" world could work. The Shop Channel would essentially become a playability license brokerage house between sellers of "used" titles and their buyers. "Used" has no meaning when we're talking about a download. When you strip away all the moving parts needed in the features you describe, the end result would be the same as if you just let people "return" their titles (i.e. forfeit their license to play them) for a credit in the Nintendo Shop Channel.

What's the problem letting go of/selling a license? I used brackets around "used" for a reason All paid money converts to Nintendo points = cash flow to Nintendo. User base über pleased=spend more points. Why wouldn´t that work?

This is part of why I hate the idea of games moving into an all download realm. There is no real way to trade, share (between friends, not share as in pirate) or even get a little of your money back by selling them when you're done/bored with them.

@Firkraag: I'd email Nintendo and find out straight from the horse's mouth on this one.

@Mange, I do like your idea's however i won't be holding my breath waiting for them to materialise.

I do think Nintendo will need to address the issue of users moving their downloads from one system to another at some point, I worry what will happen when they release their next gen console, I will be sad/annoyed if I cannot transfer my games to my new system. I believe it could be made possible via peoples Club Nintendo accounts being tied to their console, but Nintendo will not allow this until they are absolutely sure the system cannot be abused.

@Fox do you know where to send the e-mail?

Well, I'd just try the one on Nintendo's homepage first. There should be a 'contact' option on the bottom to get technical support. I imagine they are the most likely to be able to help with this scenario.

Didn't the Xbox 360 have some sort of magic cable for transferring purchased stuff from an old box to a new one? If Nintendo wanted to (huge "if", of course), couldn't they implement something like that using the USB ports?

Put your analyst on danger money, baby.

We live in hope.
