The Wii's finally getting its first [more or less] traditional turn-based RPG this month. So what do you think?
I've seen some gameplay videos on IGN, and it looks pretty good except for the glaringly bad voice-over. A few sites are reporting that there's an option to turn it off, though, so hopefully it won't be a problem.
Wasn't this supposed to come out last month? I had it preordered but canceled a few days before as my short-lived RPG enthusiasm was already dying and E3 gave me a million other games to look forward to (well, three, but for me, that is nearly a million).
I might get it yet, as I don't have a whole lot to play right now, and it's not like Blockbuster is going to get this. They don't even have Sin & Punishment 2, sadly. (Then again, might just get that, actually.)
That video looks all right. Simple-looking battle system is a point in its favor for me. I have it on mute though, so can't comment on voice acting. I was hoping it'd already been released so I could be reading reviews now, but apparently it comes out late this month now.

indeed... i see you've even re-opened your BL, comments and all... >:3

[16:44] LztheBlehBird: James doesn't know the rules? For shame!!!
Other then that, the Game looks a little like Eternal Sonata on the X-box 360. My big Sis loved that game, I found it boring
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...

I tried to buy it last month, but the GameStop guy told me it was pushed to July 12. I reserved it before I remembered DQ9 comes the day before (also reserved). Well, that's an expensive week.
I've only played the demo of Eternal Sonata. It was interesting, but... I find there is something about the JRPG that makes me much more demanding on theme, presentation, etc., all the superficial stuff I ordinarily can easily overlook. There is some perfect balance between dark and light, serious and humorous, that needs to be arrived at quickly or I lose interest, and the demo was just too light but without much humor. RPG demos are probably a terrible idea in the first place, but I'll find any excuse necessary not to spend $60, haha.
Edit: Mike, prepare to be (possibly) disappointed again! No idea if this is accurate, but Wikipedia lists it for July 20th, so you might have a week longer delay than you thought, sadly, but hey, that week just got less expensive, haha.
There's not exactly a ton of new turn-based RPGs coming out generally, so I'm keen to get my hands on it - assuming anyone in Europe bothers to publish it!
I think I'll probably wait for a $20 price drop on this, since it looks like the kind of game to drop pretty quickly at Target or Best Buy. I must say though, it's starting to look more appealing - especially with the VO-disabler. :3
I was going to get it but I'm on a budget and all the delays have shoved it into a corner surrounded by some more desirable titles between the 4 systems I have (PS3, PSP, Wii, DS.) DQ9 alone is close enough to make me wait as that's a time suck, and I still haven't found the time to drop $40 on 3D Dot Heroes which I wanted more than this game too. Beyond that it's just Metroid for me at the end of August and Ace Combat on PSP at the end of July. September has MOH if I want it on PS3, doesn't get busy until October/November as far as what I care about. Not that it matters as I'm stuck in Castlevania Double Pack and MGS Peacewalker right now.

I really like voice acting in games, especially when done well so it's really annoying how bad the voice acting is for the game. Otherwise the game looks awesome and all the impressions I've read have praised it and it got quite a bit of praise in Japan. Not to mention there's a real lack of traditional RPGs on the Wii. I'm really torn.
Of course I don't even know if it's getting released in Europe or when, I'd heard Rising Star Games will be releasing it which would make a lot of sense but I don't know if that's been confirmed.

If this doesn't recieve a European release I will be on suicide watch. Seriously, I've been waiting so long for a good RPG to come out for Wii and this could be it.
