I've heard the ipod version is very good... but I'm afraid to take the plunge after Aha I Found It was soooooooooooo awful. The graphics, which are a must in a find the object game, were pathetic in Aha I Found It. I'm hopeful Yard Sale Hidden Treasures is better and that it is a good family game.
Well early impressions... The game is alright. Not amazing but if you like hidden object games its decent. The graphics are good enough in my mind. You can tell what stuff is and you can also zoom in which helps. There is Career mode and Sunnyville tour. Have not unlocked sunnyville tour as you have to beat career mode first, so i have no idea if it adds challenge or not. In career mode there is relaxed mode and timed mode. relaxed mode has absolutely no timer. You can screw up as much as you want and it makes no difference just so long as you find the items. This might be great if you have some pretty young kids that are not competitive. There is also timed mode. you get 30 minutes to find a certain number of items. Not sure yet if the difficulty or the amount of items goes up as time goes on, or if the time limit decreases. First couple of levels you should have no problems, just as you probably know don't click wildly otherwise you suffer a time penalty, which is pretty minimal. You also get 3 hints at the start of stages. It says you can get more which i have not done yet. Maybe by finding items quickly. not sure. Finding items quickly does give you a small time bonus though.
I went ahead and purchased this one and I agree with the review. This is a great game and about as good as it could possibly get for a single player hidden object game. Very cleverly done. Enough challenge in it for all ages and lots of content for 500 pts. Graphics are good. Gameplay is broken up nicely with different "challenges" while making furniture for each of the rooms. This is an excellent family game. I played with a room full of family members helping to look for the items and everyone enjoyed it. I would give it an 8. Definately pick this up if you enjoy these types of games.
Most of the items are the same but there are a lot of items at each yard sale and it is random as to which ones you need to find. I've played the game a bunch and at one time or another found all items and still have difficulty finding items at times and the game remains challenging. Also you have a time limit to find items which at the higher levels od the game adds more challenge. Lastly, there are special challenges thrown in throughout the game which add new objects to find at the different yard sales. I definitely recommend this game for 500 pts. I don't think you will be disappointed.
Don't want to take this too far off topic, but longtimegamer, you seem to be doing this whole thing a lot:
"Hi, I have a question." "JEEZ, is nobody gonna answer my question? It's been 7 minutes already!"
Maybe you've never used a message board before, or maybe just not one with as small a community as this one, but it's not at all uncommon for this particular board to go without any new posts for 8 or more hours. Also, people tend to find it kind of annoying when people double post without a good reason (harrying people is generally not considered to be a good reason). I'm not trying to give you a hard time, just letting you know that posting multiple times in sequence probably won't speed up any responders. Just asking a question and waiting is likely to be about as effective as asking it and then posting again demanding that someone answer it, without making you look quite so petulant.
Well...there IS something that bugs me about this game. There's no high score leaderboard, that I can see. Also, when you beat the game, they erase your save file. I've had the later happen on two different modes, The first (untimed), and the one where you have to find everything for sale in sunnyville. It would have been nice to at least have them save you score/time at the end so that everytime the highscore gets beat then your score replaces it.
That is an odd thing that is does. Erase the save file after you win. It's not a huge deal to me though. My family and I have really enjoyed this game. Hope you don't regret the purchase based on my rec.
