It was the usual dose of loveable crack, but it was not a sequel, it was a re-hash. It pwned me for 6 months and then I sold it because the stress of turnips and weeds was too much. D:
Check out my awesome flag. I kinda miss it. But sold it for a reason, to save my soul. Can't wait for a true MMO AC, which is what I wanted from City Folk.
Animal Crossing: City Folk is tough to judge. Having Wii Speak and full keyboard support were MASSIVE improvements when trying to communicate, and using the pointer controls instead of an analog stick also made a big difference... but the game definitely had drawbacks too. Actually visiting the City was terribly disappointing and left no compelling reason to go back outside of visiting Redd. The game suffers from the same repetitive nature as the other versions (although that is also part of the charm, I expected slightly more diversity considering it's on the third iteration). The fading/growing grass is neat, but sometimes a pain because it limits where and how often you run. For whatever reason, it seemed much harder to have new animals move into town too.
The DS version had most of the same stuff as City Folk, but was portable and actually gave you more rooms in your house to decorate. It even has a fairly robust online mode, although you have to be more careful about random losers seeding your town with hacked items. There is no real downside in my opinion as long as you don't mind typing with the stylus.
The GameCube version had neat GBA connectivity and more useful items -- NES games you could actually play! For some reason I liked the postal system here better too, where you had to mail away fossils to determine what they were. It gave new users a good reason to use the mail, and actually made me interested in what would be returned. Sadly, this version hasn't aged well because using the analog controls forces simple tasks like selling items to Tom Nook or typing a letter to be drawn out affairs.
If I had to rate all the games then I would say that Wild World (DS) is best, followed by City Folk (Wii), followed by the original (GameCube).
I'd say City Folk is the best of the 3 Animal Crossing games. The NES games from the GameCube version took a long time to collect and most of them weren't very interesting. (and there's a Virtual Console for that now). The best thing about the DS version is the portability, which makes it a lot easier to check in on your town during holidays when you're visiting family or something like that. Still, the Wii version has all the gameplay, better graphics, some extra's and free DLC. I certainly enjoyed it for 145 hours, although it would have been nice if they'd added some more extra content that wasn't in the previous versions.
It's the best, but not by a huge margin. Certainly, to anyone who enjoys the DS version there's nothing in the Wii version that's really worth trading away the portability for.
I always thought that the DS was the best version because you could take it with you and it was easier to play the game in bite size chunks and be there (kinda) 24/7 but apart from that there all pretty much the same IMO. I suppose City folk is the best if you haven't played AC before, because of the improved communication available but I felt kinda ripped off after importing the GC version and buying the DS game. They will have to do something radically different in the next one to get me to buy it again. EDIT though I suppose it'll be 3D so they got me again.DAMN YOU NINTENDO!!
GCN one- most original DS- portable, and some pretty goog improvements Wii- exact same besides city, better graphics I'd say the DS one is better overall because AC just seems portable, and it is basically the same as the Wii version.
I think that it is like a Combo pack of the Original and Wild World. I of course like the game, but I used to love it. I play the Original more than CF.

Best. Obviously. It'd be foolish to argue that it isn't. Was it the most lazy? Yes. But it offers the most complete and content-packed Animal Crossing to date.

Depend how you want to look at it. If you've never played an Animal Crossing game before, than yes, it's the best. But for someone who's played Animal Crossing (especially Wild World) before, it might not be totally worth it.
I've never played the Gamecube one.

It's an addictive game. I'm up to 70 hours after only eight weeks, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll be this crazy about it. The city does nothing for me, and I'm filling up that museum rather quickly.
