Just finished playing the indie title Canabalt ( http://adamatomic.com/canabalt/ the fact that it was made in 5 days is crazy!) and I have to say this title would be well suited to Wiiware, this got me thinking, how cool would it be for Nintendo to release a channel similar to Wiiware encouraging up and coming game designers to upload their creations in a similar fashion to Newgrounds, of course Nintendo would have to vet the games (make sure there is no inappropriate content etc), probably charge a sign up fee of 1000 points for a year or something and then wait for the creativity to flow. It worked for Flipnote Hatena it could work wonders on the Wii, Nintendo could even release a basic game editing program implementing the IR pointer for ease of use. There are a lot of talented designers out there who simply love games (e.g. Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya and Cave Story), this would be their chance to shine!
What do you think?

there is such a thing. it's called the homebrew channel and Ninty doesn't care for it much. i don't think this'll be happening. ever.
I understand that, but if the service was offered legally that would encourage more users. Plus just because it seems unlikely doesn't mean we can't dream

I would love to see Ninty go for the sort of thing that Microsoft currently has with XNA Game Studio and XBox Live Arcade. I'm currently learning how to code in C# for it, but something similar from Nintendo could be a big hit.

Didn't realise Microsoft had something similar, is it popular? Would definitely like to see something similar now then

There are plenty of indie games hitting the service, so it's pretty popular. You have to dig to find the gems but there have been some good titles released.
