I never played the original but is Alien Crush Returns a worthwhile download?

Yes, it's pretty groovy; there's now four tables in the story mode. Good luck getting an online game going, but given it's pinball I don't think that's a big deal.

Should I go with this or start with the original? I do like the look of this one.

They're different games and I have both of them. One is 3D and one is 2D; one has multiple tables the other has one divided into separate upper and lower screens.

An online game is not a big deal for me but is it that hard to get one with this game?

Lots of people bought the game, but Alien Crush Returns just doesn't have the abundance of players attempting to connect at any given time as say, Brawl or Conduit, or recent WiiWare titles like Water Warfare. Finding a random online opponent is a challenge, but it supports FCs so you can match up on a schedule with friends if you desire.

I like the online when it works.

Unless I'm misunderstanding how it works, the save mechanism is very bizarre. First of all, there is only one player name. Your high score table will never have more than one real name on it. There is no way to have multiple players (with different names) in the same household.

Secondly, before it saves it always asks you if you want to overwrite the existing information. Why? It either saves or it doesn't. It's not like you have the option to pick another save file. There is one save file and one name.

If I've misunderstood how the game works, hopefully one of the other owners will correct me.

@Zaphod, you pretty much nailed it. The (A) button gets a lot of action, both before and during the game.

I enjoyed it. It has very nice graphics and music. The downside is its very hard to find people to play online. Its worth a download

I haven't played online. I just checked the instructions and it says it's a time-attack game: the first person to 10,000,000 points wins. Does the game end for all players as soon as the first player reaches 10,000,000? Or do the remaining players continue to play until they reach 10 million too?

cool game really! but i still miss the extraodinary Mega Drive/Genesis Version! Devil Crush was such a blast! but all that satan and devil stuff....it's never comming!

I love pinball games, but this remake just bored me to death. It's a bad sign when I actually have to force my balls into the gutter to end the game. To me, Returns is a subpar game. It looks nice, but there's so little challenge. The original is way better.

I prefer Devils Crush over this version. ACR is boring and tedious, I wish I had my points back.

I finally got it last night...and it killed my night and morning (I almost got the kids to camp late because I wanted to play a "quick game").

I haven't played the original version or Devil's Crush so I can't compare it but I'm quite enjoying it.
