I have a gut feeling that the game is going to be announced for release this holiday.
That or some other new title will be announced at E3 for this holiday (in addition to Smash), but I really think they are going to do this year with Zelda what they did last year with Super Mario 3D World.
I think this holiday will see Hyrule Warriors and 2015 or 2016 will see Zelda U
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
Hyrule Warriors is such a side game that I don't see Nintendo highlighting it as a main game seller. It's not a big budget title like a 1st Party Nintendo game and honestly I think the game is going to go under the radar after release.
Again, really think Zelda is coming this holiday. Especially given how the Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma worded the Wind Waker HD release. I'm paraphrasing but it was something along the lines of "here's Wind Waker HD to help fill the void until the next Zelda". Those weren't his exact words but it came across to me like the game was far into development already. Also if I'm not mistaken, I believe the game could have been playable at last year's E3 but Nintendo decided not to show it.
I'm feeling a "surprise" announcement (really not a surprise just like Mario wasn't a surprise last year) at E3 followed by a release window between Holiday 2014 or at the latest Spring 2015.
I don't think Hyrule Warriors is going to be so quiet. Dynasty Warriors (from my understanding) is a big series in Japan. Also it is Zelda... Zelda is kinda a big deal. Zelda U wasn't far enough along to show last year and Nintendo likes Zelda Hype to last a long time. With the other big titles this year, Zelda is more likely to be 2015

2014 would be monumentally stupid since releasing all your titles at once is stupid. 2nd half of 2014 is the only thing that feels like a confident "yep, Nintendo's bringing lots of games out" type of deal with Wii U right now.

So I'm to assume we've all forgotten what happened last year with A Link Between Worlds?
Not a chance Zelda-U comes out in 2014. I can't believe people still believe this.
I don't see why this is so impossible. Unlikely, sure. Impossible? No. Again, I believe we're forgetting that last year, a new Zelda title was announced early in the year, revealed along with a name at E3 and then released near the end. 2014 may be unlikely, but it's by no means impossible.

Wii U also doesn't need Zelda U this year. There is no good reason to release it this year. This is 99.999999999999% unlikely coming this year

Remember that both DK tropical freeze, A link between worlds, and super mario 3d world all came out less than a year after announcement.
Completely different situations.
None of those three games you mentioned are on the scale of what a Wii-U Zelda title will be, thus it will require a lot more time to develop. We haven't even gotten an official announcement or seen a single image from the game either, so it seems HIGHLY unlikely it will be released in 2014. Even DKC:TF released the year after it was revealed.
Beginning at the end of May, Nintendo already has Smash Bros, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8, and potentially Hyrule Warriors, Yarn Yoshi and "X" releasing before 2014 is over. It makes no sense for them to shoehorn a major title like Zelda-U into that 6 month release window following E3.
Anyone willing to make a bet on this? Lets have some fun...
We will likely find out at E3 if Zelda-U is coming in 2014 or 2015. If it's 2014, I will change my screen name and profile picture to anything the winner selects. If it's 2015, I get to pick your name/avatar. You then have to keep at least the new name for 90 days, but can change the avatar picture later.

Because it would be silly they need games like Zelda to pad out the 2015 release schedule plus we're already getting MK8 and SSB4 this year Nintendo don't want them to fight for shelve space.

You mean how a portable game came out less than a year after it was announced? The scope of ALBW, 3D World, and Tropical Freeze (as others pointed out) is much smaller than a Console Zelda. Also I hope they take more time with Zelda as I have found plenty of small glitches in 3D World that show how rushed tge game was (not as many glitches as other AAA games but more than Mario normally has)

@KennyPowers Point taken. But remember, they did say they could have revealed at E3 2013, but didn't because it would distract from the other games.
And, also, DKTF came out within a year of E3, but not the same year as.

Know what? This actually sounds fun. Ecen if I lose the bet, I get something to giggle about. So long as it's nothing that will get the user in trouble, I will take up the other end.
And come on, Lz. It's not THAT unlikely. Remember how many games came out between July and December, last year for 3DS and Wii U? And I think this has been in development longer than you guys think. As I recall, they were considering showing something last E3, but didn't want to compete for hype with LBW.
All I'm saying is that if development started in 2010, like I thought it did, this Winter wouldn't be a big rush on the game.

I'm actually in agreement, you'd think that we would have gotten some screenshots during the first ND of this year to start hype but no, we are going to have to wait till E3 to see it and since Hyrule Warriors (which doesn't have a release date itself!) like Wind Waker HD is ment to tide Zelda fans over until it releases yea, Zelda U's trailer will end just like the Smash Trailer of last year, black screen with the numbers "2015". I'd love to be proven wrong believe me but I highly doupt Zelda U will be out this year.
