It just seems better to buy Xenoblade. Its not going to be in stores forever. MH3U is a phenominal game, however its on the shop every once and a while.
Also, Capcom isn't afraid to do discount sales on MH3U at the eShop, so you can get MH3U cheaper over time.
If you're a fan of RPGs, Xenoblade does everything you'd like a western MMO with an eastern flavor to do. I like Monster Hunter, but it it's more of an action game. Character improvement comes from items, items have to be crafted and farmed from enemies who take a bazillion hits to kill. It's a great multiplayer game, but kinda wrong to compare it to an RPG.
Xenoblade ticks so many boxes, looks breathtaking doing it, and is fun to the point of obsession.
Sure, you can buy Monster Hunter through the eShop.
It might be cheaper to buy a retail copy unless Capcom has an eShop sale/promotion going on right now though.
