I don't like making complainy threads but this is the dumbest decision Nintendo made with the Wii U. Or at least the most confusingly dumb decision. The one that had the least logic to it. Objectively. I will hear no word from anyone that says otherwise.

Paper Mario: Color Splash and Metroid Prime: Federation Force might as well be brilliant understanding of how to sell your IPs to your current customer base compared to having the Wii U and not releasing a Pokemon Snap game for it. A sequel to a Pokemon game when Pokemon was at its peak of popularity.

The Wii U's initial marketing campaign might as well be the Wii's in terms of good ideas compared to not releasing a Pokemon Snap sequel for the Wii U.

As much as I would love a Pokemon Snap 2, I don't think it would do as well as needed. People will expect too much, or the game would have to sell too many to make enough. Pokemon snap 1 not having all 151 Pokemon was a disappointment, but i still love the game. With a new Pokemon Snap, I would want it to be episodic in a way. It could be awesome of episodes being released that focused on certain generations, and they could release more DLC to add more locations to each generation. It could be continually updated and that would be pretty cool. I just don't think a Pokemon Snap 2 would work out well as a standard packaged game.

Have their been any fan projects to try to recapture the magic of Pokemon Snap? I haven't heard of any but I don't really research fan projects.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

It makes sense in a super simplified narrow point-of-view...

While Pokemon Snap 2 did make sense on the Wii U, the game could have worked just as well on the 3DS, if not better due to the portability of it. It seems as though there simply wasn't enough interest within The Pokemon Company to make a new Pokemon Snap title, and Pokemon GO seems like a more modern approach to Snap too.

To be fair, that perfectly describes Nintendo's strategy for Paper Mario so...

Agreed. You think it would be a no brainer and it would absolutely sell well considering how much Pokemon fans act like crack addicts

Are you suggesting that because of the Pokemon GO craze this summer, Nintendo/TPC should start developing a Wii U game that would be ready about 2-4 years from now (based on the development times of current console games from Nintendo)?

more that it's even dumber in hindsight. But I'm aware that hindsight isn't a point against them exactly.

I doubt a proper sequel will ever happen. N64 Pokemon spinoffs from that time when Pokemon console games were new became their own mini series — Hey You Pikachu was basically reincarnated into Pokemon Channel and Stadium got a sequel, later retooled into the Wii and GC games. Snap meanwhile was left in the dust (and even the Stadium format may be dying too).

If they didn't make a sequel then, they probably won't make one now. If a sequel ever does see the light of day, it would probably be a cheap title on the 3DS eShop or something.

It's no replacement, but for what it's worth I thought the Poke Finder in Sun/Moon was a fun feature and it reminded me of Snap. So maybe they are still interested in the concept...

This is also entirely backwards for Nintendo to do, since they so frequently use nostalgia to help sell their products.

Hello. I hope someone can help me. How do you save your progress on Pokemon Snap on wiiu? My 7 year old son loves playing Pokemon snap on wiiu but he doesn't know how to save his progress so he has to start the level again every time so he's getting fed up now! Hope someone can help. Thanks

@Ellada211 Hiya, just recently got this for Wii U but had it on N64 and Wii. A level must be finished and photos sent to prof. oak then return to lab before the game can be saved correctly, although the Wii U does offer a suspension save which should automatcally happen or can be accessed by the VC menu (by default press either ZR or tap gamepad screen). I recommend you use the games built in save function though, there is a "save" button in the lab screen (where you see prof. oak standing, a "Go to Course" button and also "PKMN Album" button.
Be aware that only photos that were either added to your album or sent to oak and were selected for the report (usually the photo with best score for the subject pkmn - it only takes one of each pkmn for the report).
Hope this is clear, helpful and not too late!

Thanks so much for your reply it's a great help 😊

TPC is fairly anti-console, so I'm not all that surprised they didn't make Snap 2. Poke Finder is probably their way of appeasing people that want Snap 2, and it's actually a nice substitute.
