Yes.

Irrespective to this discussion, yes, they have.

I'm more and more confused that anyone didn't like Twilight Princess specifically. Literally the only complaint that makes it different from complaints you could make for at least one of the other 3D Zeldas is that it's the least creative. Especially the ones about the overworld being empty. Did they play OOT? Did they play Wind Waker?

Non-binary, demiguy, making LPs, still alive

I love how this thread isn't talking about the Malo tweets at all.

That might be BECAUSE THEY'RE IN JAPANESE!!!

But this new art was nice:

I'll be buying the game on day one, the game is worth it's price personally because I'll be playing it for 30+ hours and that's more than I play most games generally. I mean, I would pay 10 pounds to see am 2 hour movie, kind of says it all really. A bit like a lover, a product's worth is in the eye of the beholder, sometimes!

your reasoning would be valid if it wasn't 2016 and translators come with most browsers. Untitled but yes the art is nice indeed.

@Dezzy: they farmed out twilight princess because a remaster is cheaper and less work. If twhd was like that tec demo you wouldn't get Zelda u due to the number of years it would take to make twhd took like that tec demo.

If it's just a graphical job, that's quite scaleable. So it would only take as long as number of people you put to work on it!

...and they're trash.

Have you read google's translation of those tweets? That hardly cleans up in a retweet or ign article.

These are looking better than some of the others we've seen. Are these maybe directly captured Nintendo's end, before video compression has buggered them up?

Why is Malo so darn small? I mean yeah, yeah, baby and all, but she looks pocket sized or rather Navi sized. Maybe she's usurping Midna's place as the sidekick.

Currently on the plate:
Mount and Blade: Warband – Napoleonic Wars
Chivalry
Super Mario 3D World – Finishing the last few levels.
Mario Kart 8

Yes they are direct screens taken from the game.

I don't know if anyone's actually said yet but does this run at 1080p/60fps?? Surely it has to!?

Zelda usually runs at 30fps, so I guess this one is the same story as Wind Waker HD, 1080p/30fps.

Dunno how I feel.

It'll be a nice touch if the new artwork is included in the game as unlockable, collectible thingymajigables. Probably won't happen though.

I imagine the biggest challenge will be remembering to tap the Ganondorf amiibo every play session; think I'd need to put a Post-it note on the Gamepad as a reminder.

Ha! What a terrible reason. Although I bet you're right.
Well I just noticed that the screenshots Nintendo provided are 1920x1080 so that's good. I hope it's 60fps though. No reason for it not to be. The Wii U could clearly handle it.

Someone with a more technical understanding can probably correct or confirm this, but I think it has to do with animation. While the Wii U could surely handle a game like Twilight Princess at 60 frames, all of the character animations have been created at 30fps. I believe this was the situation for Wind Waker HD, and the reason it ran at 1080p/30fps (though there's no accounting for the fact that it still had some drops). So, essentially, the developers would have to revamp the entire animation system to make it a 60fps game.

Thanks, @DarthNocturnal, I appreciate the (much better) explanation. I'd assume that those side-effects as well as time and money constraints are why they'd stick with the original framerate, much more so than hardware capability. A quick turnaround and a low budget are two of the most appealing factors for HD re-releases on the publishing end.

If you're Ubisoft you just claim that 900p/30FPS is 'cinematic' and if you're Ready at Dawn you say that black bars and 30FPS make the experience you wanted from the movie (not game) you have just made feel more natural and less like a documentary programme. Thankfully they are not involved here so we have no need to worry I don't think.

Unless there's something very particular about the type of animations they've used, I doubt this is the reason.
It's pretty trivial to interpolate between animation frames (which is what you need to do to go from 30 to 60, just add a new frame between every original 2)
It's the same concept that allows something like smooth slow motion to work in games. If animations could only be used at a set recorded frame rate, smooth slow mo would be impossible.

I have a bit of a hunch that with stuff like this, the IP owner deliberately avoids letting the third party developer have access to too much code. They want to minimize the number of places they could mess something up to save on bug testing. I know the guys who did Legend of Kay had that restriction imposed on them. That might explain it. The fact that the main thing these guys have done is update textures made me suspect that. You don't need to change any code at all to update textures!
