In recognition of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
I have always loved Twilight Princess. The HD version could have been better, but even though I admit that Twilight Princess HD release trailer did not properly show it, Twilight Princess HD is a much bigger upgrade than The Wind Waker HD. Basically, all textures are new, from the grass of Hyrule to any painting in Snowpeak Ruins. The resolution boost is far more noticeable than in Wind Waker HD, because Twilight Princess is naturalistic and Wind Waker is toon. The game looks nicer and crisper than ever.
I love Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, but I really think Twilight Princess is the best The Legend of Zelda game ever:
· It's absolutely full of the best features in the series,
· the story is original and dark,
· it doesn't seem to be continuously censoring itself,
· it has a huge amount of varied things to do and places to visit,
· it's never cheap backtracking unlike Skyward Sword.
· The naturalistic visuals are the best in the series this far, specially in the HD version, and they fit best the nature settings of the series and the emphasis on making the player feeling an adventurer.
· The dungeons are unique and really clever (feel more intelligent by not using any guide).
· Midna is not a cheesy or annoying mentor (hello, Skyward Sword, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks).
· The combat has some tweaks and twists including additional techniques, but it's not unnecessary complex.
· You can be Link, his wolf form, you can ride Epona or a Bullbo, you can fly hang off a Twilit Carrier Kargarok...
· There are cool mini games and side quests.
· The soundtrack includes great old songs plus some interesting new melodies.
· It's not too similar to Ocarina of Time as some people say.
Twilight Princess is arguably the best game Nintendo has ever made.
Basically, all textures are new, from the grass of Hyrule to any painting in Snowpeak Ruins.
And most importantly, the carvings on the pillars up to Hyrule Castle. Wonder if we get an explanation to it during E3, or if we have to wait until Zelda U.

Probably neither and they will realise after Zelda U is released they will have to make another timeline to explain it.
@jariw There's an "add to calendar" section on the site for the treehouse stream. If you use it, it comes up with June 14th 9am-10am PT as the length hence only an hour.
Mostly you jump to the side while Z-targeting the Armos until you are in a good position to hit the red spot on its back. Or you run around it.
Either way it's annoying to do, it takes three good hits for it to self-destruct, and most importantly it's kind of random whether you'll be able to dodge in time when its rampage begins since you end up so close to it after every hit as a wolf. I remember at least a couple rooms in the Cave with multiple Armos in it, plus other enemies for good size.
I think the Darknut might be impossible to beat as a wolf. Mostly just a hyperbole on my part, haha.
I kind of figured that was hyperbole. XD Unless they added a mechanic where Midna's hair in the shape of a hand could rip off the armor or something.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet - The Indigo Disk, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)

it doesn't seem to be continuously censoring itself
I don't think the problem with the less impactful Zelda stories was that they were censored—The Wind Waker's ultra-violent ending certainly proves that—but rather that they lacked the ambition to go all in to develop their stakes. Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess all utilized grim plot points and imagery to heighten the sense of conflict in their worlds, Twilight Princess arguably the most effectively due to the more developed visuals and animation.
Why Skyward Sword in particular fell flat is, while Ghirahim said shonen anime-y lines 'I'll cut you until your blood drowns out your screams,' you never actually saw Link bleed. The same goes for the chase for Zelda; Impa never appeared to be in any real danger. Now, gore isn't the only answer, but, when there's such a great discordance between the text exposition (a demon king who enslaved humans) and what's shown onscreen (a super-sized game of whack-a-mole), you have a problem.

The Zelda Timeline, Tantalus edition. Arriving April 2017.
Ha ha. I don't care about The Legend of Zelda chronology even though it's official because it smells like it was artificially created by Aonuma or whoever. Why? You can play any Zelda game as it's unique. The chronology doesn't make any sense while you're playing any of them. (EDIT: See my next comments for a better explanation).
@Haru17 Great comment. Yeah, many things about Skyward Sword did not feel right. Skyward Sword is the Zelda game I liked the least (I’ve never played the NES Zelda games, but I’ve played every one after them except Triforce Heroes). There were some fun elements in Skyward Sword (mostly the Wii Sports Resort moments), but overall it is not cohesive, coherent nor thrilling. It was even boring and tiresome sometimes.
About Twilight Princess, of course the recognition goes for the original developers, but Tantalus work was better than I expected, I did not expect much anyway after the trailer, but then I found all the new textures even on single details, and the resolution boost is massive. Also, most textures in Wind Waker are plain, basically a single colour, so that’s much easier to remaster, and was probably why Nintendo chose it as their first HD game. I play the GameCube version of Wind Waker and it looks quite similar to the Wii U version.
I think the people who think Twilight Princess is ugly are people that don’t like its dark tone. Wind Waker is happier and shinier, but that doesn’t make a game any better. I think Twilight Princess is a greater game that conveys much better all its content and intentions.

I wouldn't say that, you can't quite appreciate Majora's Mask fully without Ocarina of Time and the same with Phantom Hourglass and Wind Waker.

Yes, that's right, Skull Kid in particular (my favourite Zelda character ever). Those links are natural, but I don't like the emphasis on the chronology in this series.
@Tsurii@DarthNocturnal
Personally, I never cared about any fan or official Zelda chronology, but it's true that some characters have a long background, but you can learn about it just playing the games. In Majora's Mask, the game explains who Skull Kid is, but you don't really need to read an official chronology to know. I'm not a chronology hater, I just don't care about it. I'm not really sure that it was not made or at least completed for the anniversary, but it looks like it. I might be wrong though.
I really don't like the navigation bar of Nintendo Life continuously reappearing while browsing!!
OoT Link dying in the final battle seems fine to me, imo. A hero never showed up at all in another timeline, so the hero failing isn't exactly out of the question.
That specific Link appears in Twilight Princess, or do I miss the point here?

I would agree if wasn't so sloppy and it was actually in the game rather than Ninty counting the game over screen as an ending, it means for every Zelda game there's an extra timeline now where you get defeated by cucco or where you accidentally roll off a cliff before completing it.

There's more subtle stuff in MM though like Navi is missing/dead whicg would be completely missed if you didn't play OOT.
@jump that's how the theory of infinite universes works, so yes.
There's actually a universe for every action every character did and didn't.
About navi in MM, the game is completely subtle about the whole issue with her, so you don't really need to know who's this friend Link is looking for.
