ump that's how the theory of infinite universes works, so yes.

There's actually a universe for every action every character did and didn't.

About navi in MM, the game is completely subtle about the whole issue with her, so you don't really need to know who's this friend Link is looking for.

I understand the concept of it but if you're going down that rabbit hole you'll have to just add another timeline ontop of another for every single possible action in every single game for ultimately something that wasn't in the game if you complete it as you were meant to.

To fix it I think the best course of action is with the next remake of it is that once you die in the game that's it with no continue option (plus the game self-destructs!) to refrence that time-line.

It's really a simple thing (and nothing worth self-destructing your brain over), the games only explore three branches, they don't need to go deeper into the "rabbit hole".

Oh, but if you want to go deeper yourself, there's already an infinite number of universes you can explore.

Every playthrough by every player plays comes with slight variations and can be considered a different universe.

Maybe link got the the big goron sword before the fairy bow, or played through the spirit temple with one of three different tunics. Who knows if they rescued epona or not.... etc.

It's not so much self-destruction of my brain but more that's the laziest and most half arsed explanation I've ever heard.

That's still not as bad as the ending of the game you saw didn't happen and you actually died.

Well I decided to buy this game finally...ended up going physical instead, mainly because of the amiibo. What is that place exactly? Like, how is it different from the Ordeals area?

I just 100% the game. I never played it before this and now it's my favorite Zelda game. Granted, I haven't played that many ...

Cave of Shadows is basically the same thing but with different enemies and you can only be Wolf Link.
There's around 40 or 50 floors, I think.
The only way to heal is using random diggings spots (1 heart) and the amiibo which is a one time heal based on how many hearts you had on the last "cave run" you saved to it.

I recommend only trying it after you have 20 hearts or you won't be able to heal that much.

Oh, mk...well I took on Ordeals before, so I shouldn't have too much trouble with that one.

So, I'm playing this game again for the first time in... more than 2 years? Weirdly, I didn't feel any real sense of disconnect from the game (anymore than I felt when first actually playing it, anyhow). I'm 7 hours in now, and just... uh... cleared the darkness from Kakariko Village.

Impressions:

  • The game's controls are as gross as ever. Link controls like a stiff tank.
  • My biggest problem with the game when I first played it was that it was dominated by boring sequences where you run around as a wolf to kill bugs and collect tears of light. Tonight, for two hours, I... ran around as a wolf and collected tears of light...
  • What I saw of Hyrule Field was awful. Just empty, barren nothingness as far as the eye could see, punctuated by an enemy or two here and there. It looked worse than Ocarina of Time in this regard, and that at least had the excuse of being one of the first 3D action-adventure games.
  • Good god, I can't get over how UGLY everything is in this game. The brown, featureless environments, the deformed looking people... UGH!
  • This doesn't even feel like a Zelda game. The music in the twilight infested areas could have come straight out of Silent Hill, and it just has this gritty, depressing tone to it.

I can't believe this even belongs to the same series as the joyous Wind Waker and Breath of the Wild.

@Ralizah Are you playing the Wii U version? That version massively improved the game in a variety of ways.

I would recommend you persevere through the game. You're going through arguably the worst part of the game. I didn't like TP before I replayed it on Wii U, but now I absolutely love it. It doesn't really hit its stride until you do the third dungeon, but it becomes much better once you start approaching the Gorons.

I would recommend you go through with it. Yes, it certainly isn't cheery like Wind Waker or Ocarina, but that's just the style they went for in this game. Ocarina and TP to me feel like masterpieces compared to the merely good Wind Waker. Wind Waker had excellent art style but its substance and scale were lacking, and filler was rampant. Twilight Princess has the unremarkable Wolf Tears sections, but there's only 3 in the game (one before each of the first 3 dungeons), so if you can get through those the game hits its stride and never lets up.

TLDR; I think this is far better than Wind Waker and perhaps even better than Ocarina if you ignore the Wolf Tear of Light sections. Tolerate and get through those so you can experience the game at its best.

@shadow-wolf I'm playing the Wii U version. Better textures, fewer tears of light to collect (according to people I've talked to, anyhow), and the GamePad integration is nice. I can't imagine this with shoehorned motion controls.

And yeah, I fully plan on completing this, if only so it'll stop starting at me from my shelf of Wii U games. Next up is either Skyward Sword (which, after TP, is the last 3D Zelda I need to complete) or my second playthrough of Breath of the Wild.

For the record, I've never been a huge fan of Ocarina. It's not terrible, but it's definitely on the lower end of the Zelda spectrum for me.

Wind Waker is flawed (that triforce shard hunt plain sucks, even in the remaster), but it controls well, is full of wonderful characters, features a beautiful and expressive art style, and has some fun dungeons. Of the 3D games, it's my third favorite behind BotW and Majora's Mask.

@Ralizah Nice to hear! Good thing you're planning to fully complete this. Is this your first time fully playing the game? If possible let me know what you think of TP as you play it, it would be interesting to hear updates on your thoughts on the game every so often.

I agree, shoehorned motion controls made this game worse. Without them and with better camera control and 1080p HD the game is much better. And as a matter of fact Skyward Sword is also the last 3D Zelda I need to complete. At some point I'll plan on playing it.

It must suck to only enjoy empty open world games.

Tip: If you didn't appreciate The Last of Us, you're not going to appreciate Twilight Princess because they both invest in the dual protagonist thing.

I played this on the Wii originally, the motion controls weren't that bad. They were barely there to begin with.

@shadow-wolf I played the first five or so hours in one go at launch in 2015 and didn't touch it again for years. I've been avoiding it because I was afraid I'd need to replay the horrible opening hours after such a long absence, but that turned out not to be the case.

Anyway, I'll keep updating this thread with my impressions, positive or negative. Hopefully there's no more dungeons where you have to run around freeing monkeys.
