@Haru17: during the wind waker, the hero disappeared and never came back (aka OoT link went back in time and that branch was left hero-less), so the triforce of courage just kind of stayed there with the Royal family.
Toon Link had to become the hero by proving his courage and assembling the triforce of courage. Just to seal the deal. Zelda had hers, but it was fractured by the King. Ganondorf, presumably, had his the whole time.
In the case of the triforce being physical or not, whenever the games use it as the ultimate goal for Ganon, it's always shown that to use the triforce, the people holding the pieces must be reunited and the pieces must be extracted from them.
So if we are to assume that Ganondorf still has the triforce of power in TP, then there's no way for the statue to be the real deal.
_______
Edit: In the case of Zelda II, it's a bit vague why would link not have the triforce of courage if he was the hero.
The real explanation is that it was the second game in the series, the lore was still unfinished, and the triforce of courage was quite simply created for that game.
The in-universe explanation could be that the Royal family eventually realized that letting the random hero carry it around was too dangerous and separated it from his soul, to hide it in a super safe place so no one could complete the triforce ever.
Just like Zelda did in the first game with her piece.
Edit 2: in ALttP Ganon had the complete triforce in his pyramid the whole time. The pieces were not linked to anyone in that one. So maybe that carries over to the subsequent games in that time line too, after all a dead hero is about as useful as a "went back in time" hero.
Huh...That's strange yo.
No idea. It's a different color and blinks but her piece is still highlighted, I thought for a moment all three pieces might be the same color to show she lost hers but that's not the case.
So much for my "theory" lol
(god, I hate Toon Zelda's design so darn much)
Is it the makeup? Superfluous colored eyeshadow is one of my persistent niggles when it comes to anime female character designs.
Finally completed this yesterday. All heart pieces, poes, golden bugs, upgrades, fish, Miiverse stamps, etc. Kind of annoyed I needed to look up a guide for the remaining four or so stamps, but those little holes around Hyrule field can be a pain to spot.
The final sword duel against Ganondorf looked fantastic in this remaster, definitely worth getting through the game again for that alone. Still my favorite final boss battle in Zelda when it comes to what a climax should be.
The Cave of Shadows was pretty frustrating in Hero Mode. There's only so much you can do against certain enemies in wolf form... like the Armos, ugh. I ended up having to use both the Link/Midna and Zelda amiibo to beat it, which I didn't want to. Maybe someday I'll do a Ganondorf amiibo-only run if I'm feeling crazy enough.
@Tsurii: the piece toon link completes is courage, wisdom was in Tetra's neck as a pendant, missing a notch. When King Daphnes completes it, Tetra becomes Zelda. It is a very physical item that she carries around as Tetra.
In the case of the mark of the triforce, it seems to be a permanent thing, regardless of whether or not the person actually has a piece of the triforce. It seems to mean that the person is chosen by destiny.
In the case of that video, notice how it's all three pieces that are glowing, that's because the mark is reacting to the complete triforce. Just like how the mark tends to glow when another piece is nearby.
The Links from the first and second, and ALttP, LA, and the Oracle games both have the mark, but they most definitely don't have a piece of the triforce.
Except in the Oracle games. Where it is apparently owner of its own castle
Well, maybe that castle is just the form that pyramid from ALttP takes on, once the sacred realm is returned to the light? (Because the Dark World is just what the sacred realm looked like once Ganon corrupted it)
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
Well yeah, there's no evidence that the triforce is not in the sacred realm, since the games only show the exterior of the castle and then move directly to the room where the triforce is.

I always assumed that the Triforce was actually in Hyrule Castle from going by the intro (playing through Seasons right now). I suppose it could be in the Sacred Realm, but never really got that vibe.
Actually, it makes sense for the complete Triforce to be in Hyrule castle in Ages/Seasons. It takes place after A Link to the Past, where in the end, Link claims the complete Triforce for himself. Then he probably makes a wish, and the old Hyrule returns with all the deceased people making a return.
As for Twilight Princess... yeah, I have no idea where the Triforce is. I only know, that the name "Triforce" is not mentioned in the game. It's always referred to as "The Power of the Gods".
Am I doing it wrong? The Cave of Shadows seems to act like the pit of 100 trials (have to start from floor 1 if you exit) but it forces you to exit at certain points.
It is kind of a pain that you can't just do the whole Cave in one go if you go there for the first time after getting the Sol sword. I'd have changed that up.
And Armos, which are arguably the worst thing you can fight and beat as a wolf.
Plenty of annoying enemy assortments in the new Cave. Might as well have thrown in a Darknut while they were at it.
My memory is pretty foggy as it has been years since I played TP, but how would you even defeat an Armos in wolf form? I only recall fighting them as a human.
I wouldn't have a clue how you would fight a Darknut in that shape.

Mostly you jump to the side while Z-targeting the Armos until you are in a good position to hit the red spot on its back. Or you run around it.
Either way it's annoying to do, it takes three good hits for it to self-destruct, and most importantly it's kind of random whether you'll be able to dodge in time when its rampage begins since you end up so close to it after every hit as a wolf. I remember at least a couple rooms in the Cave with multiple Armos in it, plus other enemies for good size.
I think the Darknut might be impossible to beat as a wolf. Mostly just a hyperbole on my part, haha.
