Hello,

I recently wanted to transfer my Mariokart Wii files which I transfered to my Wii U a time ago back to my Wii. I know how to transfer data back normaly and I have a SD card but the Wii U doesnt let me copy my Mario Kart Wii data back to Wii. I dont really understand why I can copy many other of my game files but not this one.

I would really appreciate if someone could help me

@LordOx Wii games with an online component don't support moving/copying (likely to prevent online forgery/duplicating online unlockables). Anything else requires hacking.

On the Gamecube, developers had the option to split up this data (offline, online, replays, screenshots, even separate save slots, etc.), but for the Wii, they chose to lump everything together (which resulted in some rather large Brawl saves).

It's reasons like this (and the lack of Gamecube controller support [seriously, why couldn't they have updated Wii mode to use the Gamecube adapter]) why I never transferred my Wii data over to my Wii U.

Thanks for your help. When you speak of hacking... you mean homebrewing? Well if yes it would be interessting to know how to get homebrew on a Wii U virtual Wii. Would this work?

You’re free to discuss homebrew and stuff, but please don’t give detailed instructions on how to hack a wiiu here.

@LordOx I remembering experimenting with files from wiisave.com back in the day, so they must have been able to work around the issue, but even then you could only copy off of the SD card, not the reverse.

As for homebrewing your own systems, I can't say. I've never done it before (aside from occasionally trying out ProjectM), but I'm sure you can still find something if you hunt around on the internet.
