I didn't see another thread like this, but if I'm wrong feel free to lock this. This thread is for those of us who recently bought a Wii U.
I technically do not have mine yet, but it is paid for and should be arriving in the next couple of weeks. I bought a refurbished one off of Nintendo's website for $200. Soon I'm going to go buy Mario Kart 8 and get NSMBU as my free game. First thing I get off the eShop will be Another World and Dungeons and Dragons, after that who knows, there are many great games on the eShop. One thing I am not looking forward to, is transferring my nearly 150 VC and Wiiware games over lol. Now to come up with a NNID...
So, anybody else just now get around to getting a Wii U too?
Got one near the end of May, so I think I apply. I, too, ordered one of the $200 refurbished consoles. Mine was in fantastic shape, by the way. Even knowing it isn't technically new, I'd never be able to tell the difference. The GamePad is incredibly comfortable to hold and a blast to use with games. Off-TV play is probably my favorite feature, but games like ZombiU also use the GamePad in incredibly interesting ways.
NSMBU is okay, but the control options are limited for multi-player, and it is easily the weakest Mario game on the console. Wind Waker HD is a fantastic update of the Gamecube game, and Pikmin 3 is probably my favorite game in the series.
Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario 3D World are easily my favorite experiences on the console thus far.
I enjoyed Dungeons and Dragons- that was one of my first purchases as well (for my second Wii U- couldn't resist the Wind Waker edition- I use that as my portable version for when I go to my GF's house).
Welcome to the club- both of you. It's a great time to own a Wii U.
Yeah I can't wait to play Zombi U as well. I was actually really dissapointed in the Wii U when it first came out, but I feel that Nintendo has really stepped up their game lately. I think one of the turning points for me was the GBA VC games. At first I didn't think it was a great idea, but since I never owned a GBA all of those games are new to me and the emulation seems great. The Gamcube controller adapter was a nice surprise too, especially since I still have 4 GC controllers tucked away. All in all, I am excited about what surprises Nintendo has in store for the Wii U.
I'll come back and edit this post tomorrow with all my excitement.
(Getting one tomorrow)
EDIT: Just got back from EB, so stoked! I looked online and there was only one store in the province that had the Wind Waker bundle, but when I went to the store they had it!
I picked up my Wii U back in March and I've been super happy with it. Especially with ZombiU - that was one of the most immersive game experiences I've had in a while.
I got mine at launch but honestly I wish I would have waited till now to get it. Except for Earthbound and Ducktales Remastered there wasn't really anything I wanted until now.

Welcome aboard!
Sure NSMBU is your choice for free game? As far as I understand, you come from Wii world... the NSMBU is pretty similar experience to the WiiU and 3ds one both in graphics and gameplay.... Zelda WW or Pikmin 3 are far more superior (expecially the latter) in graphic and gameplay novelty.... two good games to show how cool is your new console!

I got mine from my local Gamestop. It's a limited edition 32GB Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Wii U console with the game, Given a choice of 1 out of the 4 games to choose from. They were: FIFA 13, Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed, Lego City and Nintendoland. I went with Nintendoland because I've seen good things about that game. Brought it home and give it a major update which is the current version 5.0.0 and took about 8 hours to get it done. As of now, I own Mario Kart 8 and a few downloadable titles from the Wii U Virtual Console. I've been keen on trying to buy Dungeons and Dragons because I really like old games from the 80s and 90s hence why I am a retro gamer. However, They are 2 games I'm gonna purchase at the Wii U eShop whenever they are released which are '90s Arcade Racer' and 'Pinball Arcade' The Wii U is a marvelous console and I enjoy playing it whether alone or with my family.
I officially own a MAME arcade machine.

Don't have mine yet but I also ordered a refurbished 32gb wii u from nintendo and it should be here Thursday. I've already ordered Mario kart 8 and will probably get zelda as part of the free game deal for buying Mario kart.

Really? I wrote a long post about my Wii U experience, and while I've had ups and downs, for the most part, I'm glad I got mine back in April 2013. That said, I can kind of see where you are coming from in that they've only had a few major releases every few months. Went from Feb.- end of May between DCTF to MK8. But I had some other games to keep me busy in between.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
I bought a basic console with Just Dance 2014, Nintendo Land and Wii U Party, as well as two motion plus remotes for £188, and grabbed Mario Kart 8 for £30 from Game. Sold the sealed Just Dance and Wii U Party games on ebay, along with a Wind Waker HD Code from the MK8 promotion for a total of £48! So I've spent £170 for the basic console, two remotes, Nintendo Land and Mario Kart 8! Also bought a white Pro controller from Play-Asia and Wonderful 101 for£19.99 from Game. Definitely the right time and the right price for me. Thank goodness for retailers setting their own price, as Nintendo still want £200 for the basic console with nothing else included.
The external HD and the high capacity battery for the gamepad will have to wait til next month

Well I'm not that new but was happy with my deal this past CHRISTmas. I got the Skylanders bundle with the portal and Nintendo Land all for 250$ when it was all said and done. It's a great family bundle for me and my kids and came along at the perfect time. Since then I've gone a little bit crazy as far as games go. With eshop and retail I have about 20 games already and still want like 8 more retail ones. The good thing about waiting is now I can get those other 8 games so cheap as in not spending any more then say 120$ to get them all. Also many other eshop games I still want. It's a under realized system and has lots of potential but I'm afraid we might never get to see what it can really do. Still I believe it will at the very least have a 5 year life span even if only Nintendo supports it.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
got my mario kart 8 bundle a week ago. i sold my xbox 360 for it and its worth it in every way. everybody was like ' wiiU is inferior to Xbox 360 and ps3' and bla bla. i found out everything was bull once i used i hands on. i love my wiiU and iv got only 3 games at the moment. i just wish it had more anime titles like naruto and dragon ball z tho. i dont need anything if i ever have these games.
