I wouldn't mind if Krystal replaced either Falco or Wolf. They both feel like Fox clones (at least in SSBB), it would be nice with a StarFox character that doesn't build on the same foundation as Fox for every move.

@2Sang IMO, Greninja is a good choice. They had to pick from a few concept art and they chose him. What if they chose Flabebe over him? Would you think that would be a genius choice?

@The_Ninja Being 3rd party isn't a big problem, really. Not until they start becoming a bit too prominent. I'd say 5 or 6 is the actual limit before it stops feeling like smash. Being too sexy isn't really an issue, as they'd likely use the Bayo 2 model, which is no worse than Zero Suit is. Using guns isn't the biggest problem, but it is a problem. It's a very big part of her moveset in the game, so removing it would be a misstep on Sakurai's part. Mind you, he took Snake's guns away and replaced everything with CQC and explosives, so Bayo to thrive entirely on hair combos, but I feel like that might cripple the character.

Point is, you're right. We don't need Bayonetta in this particular game.

You act like it is a requirement that they must choose the pokemon from the newest generation. Why not Dixie Kong? She's been in the most recent DK game. Why not Ridley? Ridley was in the most recent metroid game.

Uh correction sir Ridley wasn't in the most recent version of the game it was a Clone of ridley and eh don't really care much for Dixie Kong... I feel Donkey Kong and Diddy are more than enough rep for the series and even if what would be her move set? She would feel too much like Diddy imo it could never work

I would love for Bayonetta to join.

I assume Snake is getting cut. So it would be nice with someone to replace him, Bayonetta would be perfect for that. If not, I'm going to miss having a character that uses real weapons in his/her playstyle.

I don't see her being much like Diddy. She'd obviously fight using her hair as well as be able to hoover/fly etc..

She'd work very well I believe.

Why would Sakurai bother putting a Konami character in Smash? Konami certainly doesn't seem interested in Nintendo at the moment.

Then again, all Konami does these days is re-release the MGS games 4 or 5 times each and make Castlevania games that nobody cares about. Renting out an IP might vaguely interest them.

King K. Rool doesn't feel relevant anymore to me, especially after RETRO Studios got rid of the Kremlings as antagonists in the DKC series. To me he'd be as relevant as having the walrus from DKC:TF as a playable character (I wouldn't mind having either of them playable though as long as they got interesting moves, I just don't care much for them)

I do agree we need more playable antagonists though.

They said they had a spot for a new Pokemon, and I don't think you can catch Dixie Kong in a Ultra Ball.

I'm hearing sone people say king k rool is irrelevant. I can see why people are saying that, but isn't smash bros about bringing back classic characters from the past such as pit or ROB? True, king k rool has never stared in a game like the previously mentioned characters, but I don't think that really matters. That's just my opinion.

King K. Rool is THE DKC series antagonist. Frederik the Walrus and Tiki Tong maybe be more recent, but neither of them will ever top K. Rool. Want an example? Ganondorf hasn't been in a Zelda game since Twilight Princess that I'm aware of. He's not in either of the DS titles or Skyward Sword. He makes a VERY short appearance in Link Between Worlds as Ganon before turning in Yuganon. Ganondorf himself was in Wind Waker HD, but that's not new at all. But I don't hear too many people asking for him to be replaced, and whenever they do ask, it seems like people are extremely quick to stuff a sock in their mouth. Why should it be any different for K. Rool? There have been six core Donkey Kong games since it became its own franchise and K. Rool was the antagonist of four of them. The only reason Retro isn't using him is because they want it to still be their own series and not just a continuation of what Rareware was doing. Even then, they left a few nods to him in the games, most notably in world 3-1 of Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. He's also an early pick for a DK rep in most Mario games. Tends to follow: DK, Diddy, Funky, K. Rool.

What? How were my points based on the "oh, another swordsman" argument? I didn't even mention the fact he has a sword? Nor did I ever say anything about any dislike for sword wielders...

The fact I haven't played the game simply means I don't personally have any interest in the character. I even said "I'm sure the game [Xenoblade Chronicles] is good, and I'm sure he's a good character" but because I haven't played it, the interest isn't there. I'd personally prefer a longer-standing Nintendo character in his place.

The other reason I didn't want him in was because it further strengthened the gematsu leak, meaning future newcomer announcements might be less of a surprise.

I was more pointing out that people were assuming he'd be generic, which I've heard a lot of people say, by this point and it's gotten really annoying. Dunno if you were actually thinking that, but I guess I assumed you were thinking some form of it because it seemed like you were writing the character off without getting a chance to know him.

Beyond that, I think what's so great about Smash is that it's an intersection of long-standing powerhouse franchise, retro love, nostalgia, and a bright future for Nintendo. There are characters from Color TV Game-15 and Game & Watch all the way up to Wii Fit Trainer, Miis, and potentially Shulk and Chrom and they're fighting alongside Mario, Sonic, Link, Mega Man, Samus, Pac-man and DK. It's a celebration of Nintendo's past, present, and in some cases, future, so why shouldn't they pull in newer characters?

On top of that, I've been saying Chrom was in since LONG before the Gematsu leak, and if I'd played Xenoblade, I'd likely have wanted Shulk in, too. Even then, once someone explained to me who he was and where he was from, I saw why there was demand for him and have thought he was pretty likely since. The only character from the Gematsu leak that could actually convince me that the leak is worth some credit that we haven't already confirmed is Chorus Men. Even then, Rosalina wasn't in the leak. I think we can expect Shulk and Chrom, Gematsu leak or not, but I think we can also expect at least one or two unknown newcomers.

To me the Gematsu is just a fan speculation. Every character they had supposedly leaked just seem like characters people would usually predict. The reason I believe this "leak" took off is because the guy made a lucky guess at wii fit trainer being character and same with the choir men. Even if the leak turns out to be true that doesn't mean he knows all of the characters. He didn't know about Rosalina. And who knows, maybe we'll get blindsided and get a character like Isaac instead of shulk (even though I want him in) on Monday. Basically what I'm trying to say is don't take the leak so seriously. Try and take it as a reasonable wishlist.
