@Grumblevolcano: According to VGchartz it sold 157,609 in the US in it's first week, only a few thousand less than Splatoon did. It's not that bad really considering the negativity that's surrounded it.It wont be an evergreen title like Splatoon is though, probably be lucky to reach a million worldwide by the time NX comes out.
I should say people using Japanese sales for a Wii U 3d space shooter for their justification of why the game sucks is about as pathetic as possible. Or using sales as a sign of quality ever for that matter.
Your favorite game probably sold less than Destiny or the Division. Color Splash will probably be the best selling Wii U game this year. Remember that.

I agree. Sales doesn't equal quality. If we went by that logic, literally every game on the 3DS would be worse than The Division.
@kkslider5552000: I disagree about Color Splash being the best selling Wii U game this year, I think Twilight Princess HD, Splatoon or one of the Nintendo Selects will be.
I think I may try this one down the road, if I find it with a discount. The control scheme looks interesting, but I never have been to big on this series. I played Star Fox 64 in the 3DS, it didn't really convince me.
Today's my first time playing it. The controls feel very restricted, but only because I rarely ever use the motion controls. I try to use the left stick as much as possible because I hate looking down at the gamepad. They're not perfect, they're not game breaking. I just really wish there was a normal control option for people like me.
My feelings pretty much. Well, I actually enjoy the controls quite a bit- make the game fun (albeit harder sometimes- sometimes easier), but I do think it was a bad move not including an alternative option. I may have wanted to play normally at some point. And I know many others did.
Oh well, it is what it is. Like you say, not game breaking, not perfect... too big a focus has been put on them imo
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)

He was pierced for our transgressions
Completed this yesterday in a single session, now workin through the different branches.
Loved the whole game, perfect length for me. Found the controls pretty good, it was nice to have a different type of challenge. Only thing I didn't like was the final boss battle, the combination of camera angles and controls was just plain bad.
Finished my first playthrough today and absolutely loved it. The controls never gave me too much issue, and there are few feelings better than flying right under a battle ship, shooting straight up and destroying it, or any of the other trick shots.
4 levels in, 2 of which focus on the most boring vehicle, and this game is still quite good. I'm legitimately baffled at how people don't like this. I mean, I get why they would have problems with it but when the gameplay works, it is so much better than so many other games. Even at worst, a worthy follow-up to one of my favorite games is in this game from a gameplay perspective.
Honestly, even the right stick controls feel fairly natural, if not the easiest thing for me to remember how to use.
It's not perfect or anything, but it's fun. At times the most fun I've had playing a game in a while.
Well... I tried to like this game. I really did. But after two playthroughs, I think I'm done with it. It wasn't the controls; I got used to them quickly. Rather, it felt like all the effort into this game went into the new control scheme rather than any of the other aspects of the game. There just wasn't all that much here that I hadn't already seen in Star Fox 64. That combined with a lack of branching paths (yes, they are there, but they're locked behind vehicle unlocks on your first time through minus the Fortuna/Peppy thing), really just let me down. And none of the paths that you could unlock felt like a secret. For crying out loud, the game would literally tell you that a new path was available by telling you a new portal has shown up or Star Wolf is there. It just sort of felt silly. On rails shooters exist as a genre to be replayed. But I don't really want to play it anymore.
I went back to Star Fox 64 after playing through this one a couple of times and found that I like that one more. I don't even like it as much as others, like Sin and Punishment 1 & 2, The Resident Evil lightgun games, and Kid Icarus Uprising (which honestly feels like the best Star Fox game. Seriously, just do that with Star Fox.)
But at least others are having fun.
Best thread ever
