Loved this game. They could even release it just as multiplayer and I'd be really happy. It has great potential.

Check out my super awesome Super Mario Maker levels.

Two things I want to see in the final version:

  • 4 player split screen
  • Have game modes that have more than two teams

i want
-portals that work like the portals from portal
(so you can launch across the map instead of going directly to another player and if you go through enemy portal you die)

-double jump
( to reach places that don't have walls to ink up)

-actual gamemodes
(so far we have only seen the one territory mod but these are what i have in mind)
*ink race
(remember the crash courses? well how about it's a team race while solving puzzles, timing thing, walljumping)

*map editor
(nintendo are kind of starting to get into this type of thing so it would make sense)

*base wars
(a game mode were you go around collecting ink also killing other players collecting points and resources to build your own base- (which will also be your game hub)- and you add to it making it bigger then once time is up it puts all 4 bases together builds a wall around it and you try to take over the bases and your base can also be used in the gamemode)

*survival
(the undead squid are rising expand your base PROTECT IT and if a part of your base is destroyed you have to get the resources to rebuild it (all 4 bases are put together in multiplayer)

-more weapons
water gun
(can clean up enemy ink)

water bomb
(emptys enemy tank and slow them down for a few second (cannot transform into squid ) and cleans up surrounding ink)

ink pistol
(focus more on taking down the enemy)accuracy

sniper
(guards area you are trying to protect(also gives tiny splashes of ink around the dead player) guard

machine gun
( sprays everywere but low acuracy ) multiple enemys

shield
(self explanitory)

so tell me what do YOU think of THIS and what do YOU want from THIS game

IGN did good gaming journalism and towards Nintendo. Nintendo is pulling miracles out of their a**es this E3.

I wouldn't really call this a shooter, either. lol
I mean, yeah you're shooting, but not at your opponents. xD

You can shoot at your opponents, and if they are getting too much covered in your color, they will "die" and respawn at their home base. But nevertheless, I agree with you that this is not a shooter game.

The game is brilliant in that the rules are really simple, yet the "travel/hide in your own ink" feature still gives the game so much strategy potential.

hehehe

I'd consider this game a shooter. I mean of course it isn't the main objective but you do earn points for painballing another player. At the end of the day it isn't too far removed from playing dominion or territories on Halo.

It does bring up an intrestig question that if this is going to be a retail title than they'll have to have a single player component so they can avoid the god awful excuse that Titanfall used, as wellthis game must have other gametypes right.

Seems like it's just going to be your standard full retail title.
Buy it in the shops or on the eShop, play as much as you while the servers are still alive.

Full-retail? Do you mean like standard eshop game "full-retail" or Mario Kart 8/Bayonetta 2 "full retail" (price-wise, I mean)? And for that matter, any info on the price?

Y'know, I wasn't really interested in this at first; but Splatoon's really grown on me very quickly since it's a rather unique shooter. I do hope a possible Free-4-All mode is made, but the game's release won't be for at least another 6 or so months so I'm sure some new modes, content, etc. will be made. I look forward to Splatoon.
Since so many people are reminded of Mario Sunshine, I think it'd be funny to have a mode somewhat based on Sunshine. I understand that the least this new IP needs is Mario put in it but what if it was like this?

Sunshine Splatter
Same as the standard rules but now 98% of the map is already covered in each team's ink (49% each). Instead of your team's ink, you'd fire water to clean off the opposition's ink, can still KO foes though. On uncovered territory is a ? Block, players grab and hold on to this and holding on to it long enough (let's say 25 seconds) activates item events that benefit your team.

  • Bloopers - Come down to spray your team's ink in random places.
  • F.L.U.D.D Copters - Help douse opposing team's ink.

That's still six moths from now.

If Nintendo were smart they hold a closed or open beta for the game closer to the holiday.

Well, if they stick by that estimate then it's a full year from now at most; but that's if the game doesn't get delayed or something.

I like how the colors for teams aren't chosen at random. It's all sets of colors that compliment each other. Like orange and blue, orange makes blue pop. I'm sure it was obvious to do this during development but it's still very nice. Also noticed there's a skate park map during the E3 Digital Event trailer. That is going to be so much fun to move around in.

UTXGamer

Watching the trailer again, there is a lot of stuff in there that the gameplay videos haven't shown. Toward the end there appears to be some ability to call in a paint strike on a part of the map. There's a sniper rifle shown at one point. I think there is a lot more to the game then they've talked about. Looks like a really fantastic game. One of the few games that really caught my attention(Zelda, X, Bloodborne, Scalebound, and No Man's Sky being the others).

One thing I would not be at all surprised to see: being able to use Miis.
