Finally got the Aerospray RG. Yes, yes it is OP. 1300 points on the winning team, the rest of the winning team had 800 or 900, the losing team 600. I'm good, but I'm not that good. Helped my team to a tie in ranked - we still won - but standing atop skatepark tower you can cover both squares in about 3 seconds and kill everyone below.

After trying the ink brush, I can't really see why anyone would use it over a traditional roller.

Yes the charge is nice, but the damage is awful, as if the ink spread.

It's great for Battle Mode when defending a spot or corner. It it has an amazing area of effect that is quicker than the roller. It's horrible for Turf Wars as everyone can see.

This is all good info but still, when it comes to turf wars, it's not the best at covering and kills in turf wars aren't nearly as important.

One tip I found when using the bazooka is to fire it, then immediately go into squid form. This doesn't produce the kickback you get with the bazooka and it will allow you to fire another shot quicker when you pop back out. So it's a quick succession of fire, squid, fire, squid, etc.

I did see a paintbrush around 1,500 in Turf War once (winning by a far margin in that team), although most of the paintbrushes are currently very low in score. A weapon set is all 3 weapons combined and I think it's a bit easy to judge a weapon set after just a few days. The meta in Splatoon will change many many times.

Is this game playable for novice game players?

I'm really tired of getting horrible teams and losing. (And yes, it is the team. I'm always in the top spot.) Seriously, this is the first time I've unplugged a console during an online game. I'm not proud of it, but I don't regret it.

Yep. If you struggle in mutliplayer just go and work your way through single player first as that's incredibly easy.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

Actually, never mind. Started playing again, and didn't get any errors for 17 matches. Heck, I only got off because the turf war stage was Port Mackerel. Sometimes the stage is okay, but something about it just rubs me the wrong way.

my strategy with port mackerel is to focus on the 2 side corridors then try to sneak into the enemy base placing beacons along the way,1 as close to their spawn point and 2 others in the enemies corridors. Winning the match is determined if your team manage to control at least half of the middle of the map but i done games were all the other team had was very little territory at theur spawn.

Absolutely. As already suggested, start with the single player mode to get good training. After that, online will be no big deal. Also, when you start online you'll generally be matched in to easier matches with mostly low-level players. And don't forget to visit the shops and Judd (the cat).

That's not true for turf wars. I've seen level ones pop up in my matches and we are all above 10 with most above 15.

Thank you Dezzy and Jariw, This is now on my purchase list. Is it worth getting an Amiibo for it?

When Splatoon gets a sequel, they really need to call it Splatwon. Sorry, I was just thinking about that today Or even Spla2on. Wait no, that looks weird. Meh, I'm sure they will just go with Splatoon: New Nintendo hardware name.

Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)

On the topic of a Splatoon sequel I can see it being a 1 on a console deal like Mario Kart & Smash but they release DLC throughout the console's lifespan to keep it going rather than the COD way of yearly instalments.

I'm guessing the next game will be called "Splatoon: Smash" so they can have all their licensed IP in it. Would make for some much more interesting levels, they could use some of the worlds from Ntinedo Land as models - Zelda, Metroid, Pikmin 3, Animal Crossing, even some of those hunt down Mario games were all done in open 3D worlds.

Not to go all Bill Clinton, but it depends on your definition of "novice". If you never played videogames before then there is a learning curve best adapted to by those under the age of 10. If you are a novice to FPS well this is 3rd person so that's a benefit. I've always had a hard time in FP games but I'm usually fine in 3rd person.

Also, single player ramps up in difficulty in the 3rd world area - there are 5 so halfway thru. I haven't played 4 or 5 yet so not sure how they go. My wife watched me play world 3 and she kept saying - "oh, this doesn't look like fun".

And as Tech said, level 1s play w/ level 20 - they really should fix that from 1-10 and 11 - 20 - but it's still a really fun game in turf war, ranked battle is more like work though. Getting the areospray gun and some higher gear at least made it enjoyable.

Please keep Nintendo ip's out of it.

I figure it's either zombies or Mario, so I choose Mario, Oh wait, Pikachu, I choose you. Actually no Pokemon, just Mario et al. My son is doing a Smash Bros themed bar mitzvah so I kind of have Smash on the brain these days.

There is matchmaking even in Turf War. That doesn't mean that there aren't occasional mismatches (similar to a 75,000VR appearing in a MK8 race where everyone else are around 6,000VR) to fill a group, or that the level number is the only parameter for matching players. IMO, the vibe is a better parameter to match players current skills than the level. The level only tells how much the player has played. That said, I only played with players with level 5 or higher during the whole weekend (I'm level 20).

Even Ranked Battles (which has much stricter matchmaking) has occasional mismatches, such as an A+ player in the same group as B- players. But if the goal is to fill groups as quickly as possible, mismatches like that will sometimes happen.

The ranked battles are pretty good to level up your inkling, but is annoying when some of your teammates, thinks that is a turf battle, and keep drinking the entire stage, avoiding attack / defend the central area.
