@skywake To turn the tables on you, why haven't you played Majora's Mask?

I didn't own an N64 so when the Wii VC came around I grabbed Ocarina of Time instantly. Didn't beat it on the Wii VC, got upto about the Forest Temple, got frustrated with it and stopped playing. So when Majora's Mask came out on the Wii VC I thought it was best not to get it until I had finished OoT. I didn't get back to it before the 3DS version was announced, so I beat it then. The 3DS version was so much better visually that I have been kinda waiting for Majora's Mask to come out on the 3DS. If it appears on the Wii U VC before the 3DS version is announced I'll probably play it then.

That's why I haven't played it

Ocarina of Time will always be my number 1! Nostalgia be damned - That game WAS my childhood!
Majora's Mask and Wind Waker HD would come after, followed by Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess!

I love them all like they were my children!

Well just barely after the N64 launched I asked my parents for an N64 with Mario Kart. They got me a SNES with Super Mario Kart and Super Mario World. I did not complain in the slightest.

If i were to compare the Zelda games i've played to other games, they'd all get at least 4/5, minimum. Compared against each other, i'd say:

Zelda ALTTP: 5/5
Ocarina of Time: 5/5
Majora's Mask: 5/5
Wind Waker: 4/5
Twilight Princess: 4/5
Skyward Sword: 3/5
A Link Between Worlds: 4/5

Not counting the older games, since they're quite dated in my opinion.
The only reason i rate SS lower, was the hand holding and the fail concerning the item collecting. It was so tedious that it made me start avoiding the items :S

So you're not going to play Skyward sword just because of the controls (which work wonderfully by the way)? Really dumb reason to not play a game.

Ocarina of Time - 4
Majora's Mask - 5
Wind Waker - 5
Twiliight Princess - 4.5
Skyward Sword - 5

That is not a dumb reason at all. The controls ruined 50% of the game for me (along with some uninspired boss battles and pretty dull skyworld)

the controls can really be a big down in Skyward Sword(though in my case it was literally the controls my 2 Wii Remotes were both having serious bad contact issues with the Nunckucks and Wii motion plus....... old Wii remotes, you can never trust those)

I liked the Skyward Sword controls, this took immersion to the next level (much more than the tacked on waggle controls of Twilight Princess), but they both have pointer control for Bow & Arrow etc, which I think are not bettered using standard controllers.

What really let me down with Skyward Sword (as @faron has mentioned) was Fi telling you everything. I prefer to get stuck and have the satisfaction of knowing I solved the Issue.

However, I do prefer the dark graphic style of Twilight Princess.

I give all of the Zelda's 5/5, as they all offer something unique. But I would say Ocarina just pips the others to the post, as this was the 1st Zelda I completed from start to finish.

Am I the only one that thought Skyward Sword had the best artstyle?

Anyways, Everything > Majora's Mask

Whoa whoa whoa whoa.. whoa. Easy there. Skyward Sword does indeed have one of the top three best art styles, but Majora's Mask is far from the worst Zelda game.

@GuSilverFlame There is something about Minish Cap that is amazing, isn't there? It's definitely the best handheld Zelda and one that I can always go back to and thoroughly enjoy every time. I can't wait for it to come to the Wii U VC.

Too bright and too much bloom, but I loved the designs and style, yes.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

@Spuratis
I don't think it's the worst Zelda game, but Majora's Mask is my least favorite of the 3D titles. All of the others I like fairly evenly, but if I had to chose a favorite it would be Skyward Sword.

For the record, I'm only counting the ones where you can move around in three dimensions, not the top-down ones that just have 3D-graphics.

Ocarina of Time (N64/3DS) - 4
Majora's Mask - 4.5
Wind Waker - 3 (WWHD - 3.5, for fixing the triforce shard quest)
Twilight Princess - 2.5
Skyward Sword - 4

Ocarina of Time (3D) - 4.8/5
Only knocked a couple points off because it's only flaw in my mind is there's not too much extra to do. Yeah there's a LOT of extra stuff to do, but compared to the other games on this list, not so much. Great game and I'm on my second Master Quest playthrough
Majora's Mask - 5/5
Such a great story, such great atmosphere and characters, amazing improvement over Ocarina which was already an impressive game. And, just to make a point, I beat Ocarina of Time 3D before playing Majora's Mask and out of the two, I feel Majora is superior. However, I'm not sure if this is a game I will play over and over like Ocarina. Ocarina is one I can sit down and blow through for a great Zelda experience. This is more akin to a cerebral film or novel and needs time to rest before a second playthrough.
Wind Waker (HD) - 5/5 (not yet completed
Sadly, I missed Wind Waker's first outing, but the HD remake is incredible. The art style is fantastic, the gameplay is just as solid as it's always been, and the characters are so relatable and interesting. I find myself wandering for HOURS doing nothing story-wise. The only other Zelda that's done that to me so far is Link Between Worlds and that's only because of the less linear structure of the game as a whole. This game is basically perfection and anyone that disagrees simply hasn't played it.
Twilight Princess - 4.9/5
This game is receiving a lot of low scores on here... I don't know why. It's a great adventure, the art style (now dated) was great and has the mature feel some fans want, the overall tone is akin to that of Majora's Mask, and Link just feels like a bad***. I will say I didn't give a damn about any characters outside of Link, Midna, Illia, and Zelda, but everything else wowed me. Maybe I'm biased as this is my first Zelda game, but whatever...
Skyward Sword - 4.99/5 (not yet completed)
It's just great. Love the art style, love the motion controls, and love flying. This game is only .01 below Wind Waker because sailing the seas is more rewarding than flying a Loftwing, but it's still FLYING. Going up to the sun and swooping in to grab the totem at the beginning of the game was all I needed to keep flying around for the heck of it. Characters are all great and even the townsfolk have personalities that make me upset when I forget their names. Brilliant game. Another perfect game. Some will be turned off by motion controls at first, but when they do that diagonal slash in the training room, it'll all come together.

I was going to just put them all at 0, but I suppose that would not be appropriate. Instead, I'll imagine I've rated them down to 100 decimal places and magnify the results to be on scale 1-5.

Ocarina of Time: 3
Majora's Mask: 2
Wind Waker: 2.5
Twilight Princess: 3.5
Skyward Sword: 4.5

Wind Waker and Majora's Mask both had interesting ideas but were slow (one because you are constantly in a town, at least early on before I quit; the other because boat). Ocarina and TP have good puzzles and story, but they lack in the combat and exploration departments, which are important to my enjoyment of Zelda. Skyward Sword was the closest to my ideal aesthetic for a Zelda title and had more interesting combat. It shook up the formula a tiny bit, and added one of the neatest items in awhile (that beetle), but it was ultimately another Ocarina of Time when I really wanted Link to the Past in 3D (people say that would be Ocarina, but it is too gloomy and is too puzzle-centric for me).
