I really like the customization potential in Giant Robot but I think I just love the idea of making lots of different robots more interesting than most

Customization can be a draw for a lot of people but I thought the gameplay looked really slow and kinda boring.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I agree it looked slow but I liked that about it. As for customization well I just really like big robots and mechs a lot and I think I'd really enjoy getting to make lots just as much as I'd enjoy the gameplay. Maybe the final product will be perfect for me but I hope they can make something you and everyone else can enjoy also

Just by adding an online mode the game would get much better. Being able to fight other custom Robots online, would change this game a lot. We will see what they did.

Awesome idea I hope that makes it in because it would be great seeing everyone's own favourite designs and fighting it out. I think Project Guard will be super fun also.

It feels way too clunky of a game to do well with online. I agree with the idea that it's a smaller game and find it a better fit for a multiplayer game, hence why I suggest going LAN.

Playing this game online would make things a lot more interesting. Never knowing what kind of hideous robot you'll encounter next.

Could I really make it look like my mother-in-law?

I think I agree. With plenty of enemy variation, map variation, and whatnot, Project Guard can become an interesting game. Throw in some boss fights perhaps or some other mechanics and you can call me excited for the game.

I just hope Shigsy hasn't been playing Night Trap.

I hope the giant robot game becomes more of a cartoony wrestling game to sit along side Punch Out.

The chances of LAN battles happening is very low and wouldn't be a good selling point, while online could happen at any time. Also I think the slower mechanics work well for the online element as it could open bandwidth for other opportunities. Spectator modes or tournament modes would be cool.

Apparantly, Project Guard is still alive:

''When Miyamoto unveiled Star Fox for Wii U at last year's E3, he showed it alongside two other experiments: Project Guard and Project Robot. The former, Miyamoto said, is still in development. Like Star Fox Zero, Nintendo is working with Platinum Games on Project Guard to complete the game. It's making great progress, Miyamoto said.''

I think that means Project Giant Robot is officially cancelled? Fortunately Project Guard looked more promising anyway.

I thought the mentioning of Project Guard might've been a mistake in the supplementary information of July, as it was listed as a 2015 title, but Project Guard is still listed as a 2015 game... Strange, although I'm suspecting a surprise eShop release. I think we'll learn more about what has become of Project Guard during Nintendo's upcoming Direct later this year.

Project Giant Robot is still TBD, just like it was in July.

Well considering both looked like nothing more than tech demos, I'm surprised they're still making one of them into an actual game. That's cool, I guess.

Project Giant Robot has to stay 'TBD' for eternity. It must become Nintendo's Half-Life 3.

Project Guard could be marketed as some kind of a Star Fox preguel, released in december as an eShop-game to beef people up for the incoming Star Fox Zero.

Dunno how I feel.

There's been rumors of Project Guard being directly tied to Star Fox, so you might be on to something.

@cookiex: Well, Miyamoto confirmed that the robots you're defending against in Project Guard (the ones that look like ROB) are the same as the robot that you use to explore small areas in Star Fox Zero. Star Fox logos have been found in Project Guard as well. Miyamoto also said the following: ''So maybe Project Guard is the TV series of Star Fox that runs late at night, and the main missions of Star Fox are the TV series that runs in primetime.'' So, in a sense the game is a sort of spin-off. They probably take place in the same universe and I suspect that there will be more stuff that links the two games, however I don't think that any of the main characters from Star Fox will make an appearance in Project Guard.

You were comparing Guard to Splatoon first and of charm is a factor since it's what allowed both Splatoon and Captain Toad to expand into a full game whilst Project Guard was a soulless which is why it got a meh as well as being a half baked demo.

Charm can be added so easily, though! All that the demo showed was gameplay, which is why I'm comparing Project Guard's gameplay with these other titles. Everything else can be added after, but the complexity of the gameplay tells me that they can add anything they want to it. It's not that complex, but complex enough.

The only reason I brought up Splatoon is because it was another game that people thought was just going to be an eShop title.

I really wish they'd say something about either of these games. It feels like the community has nearly forgotten about them and I was pretty interested in Guard.
