I also wondered why 4 characters? It seemse like a lazy way to add more complexity to the game but first I gotta play to see how well this mechanic works on the actual game.
I'm hoping 4 characters means online and local drop-in/drop-out 4-player co-op through the main game plus all modes.
But my cynicism tells me it means 4-player local co-op only in the challenge/versus modes.
Nintendo said it's one player only. My guess is there might be other modes you might be able to play with people.
Olimar is my favourite Nintendo Character and this game was a first day purchase for me but after seeing the Trailer I won´t get this. I won´t support a game that should have featured my favourit character and than replaced him by some ugly nerds.
Maybe those are Olmar's kids who came to save there DADDY!!

I've said this numerous times but I'll say it once more. Olimar has only two kids, so the other two have to be their friends/relatives or somewhere along that line. And the story line most likely is that Olimar takes the four with him to the planet as a vacation and then the ship malfunctions mid-flight, crashing into the planet and scattering everyone. After regrouping, they notice Olimar is missing, and have to find him. That's just one of my best guesses.

That's right. Well, I still think the one is the president guy...not so sure about the other one...maybe Olimar's brother just to throw something out there.

You know how some of the areas in Pikmin 2 are basically the same as Pikmin 1 but a little changed? Ex: Distant Spring is Perplexing Pool
Well what if in the new game with the new protagonists you return again but they're drastically different? Like if the water area I just mentioned is now a harsh desert and one of the treasures is a fossilized remain of say a Wollywog, or a shearwig preserved in amber? That would be so cool! And maybe bulblaxes have returned to the Final Trial/Wistful Wild and maybe it just so happens that it's mating season! G-d I can't wait for this game! Pikmin 2 coming out tomorrow isn't helping either!

IGN Confirmed that Pikmin 3(and this is a first time for the pikmin franchise) is running in 60fps. We'd be seeing more 60fps based titles if the crazy GamePad wasn't juicin' so much power out of the Wii U. Probably old news to most, but new to me nonetheless considering i haven't been keeping up with all of the extra interviews that were held after E3.
That aside, it's been confirmed that all Wii U launch titles will instead only be '720'p with possible 1080p titles on the horizon. I guess HDTV owners with larger sized displays or who like to sit close to their HDTV's may have a problem with this, for me it's not that big of a deal. But i'm now questining if i should instead go for a 50" HDTV instead of a 55" hmmm, INtense decisions...tisk tisk..

You realise how immersive playing a game in 1080p can be considering you can 'sit closer to the screen' in comparison to 720p? On a big screen with the lights dimmed it can be pretty damn amazing. 'That's why i'm interested, not because of 'Hurrr Hyper realism', a lot of people around here know that i don't care for that crap. Aside from viewing more detail it's really about being able to get a large screen display without noticing the pixels(like you would with a 720p game sitting too close to the screen) depending on your viewing distance.
Anyways, Realistic graphics don't interest me(Resident Evil may be an exception, along with other horror based titles), i'm into surrealism and Pikmin is just another fantastic example. Anyways, Pikmin 3 looks absolutely gorgeous. It's pretty funkin' amazing to see what the Big N can do with that much power. Can't wait to use the Wii remote Plus with this one, but I'm still curious to see what the gamepad has in store innovation wise.

would in fact be 1080p since the res' is supported.

Well I heard the original Pikmin was praised for it's realistic environments so I was wondering if that's the case with this game I know the characters look well you know how they look but the environment looks kinda realistic as opposed to the pikmin/Olimar-looking characters. Just wondering if the game's environment would be considered ultra-realism.
I got something wose than being in 720p yep no online & only local multiplayer... again this is why miyamoto needs to retire soon. First star fox 64 3d now this...
