Right, this shall no doubt be a most ludicrous thought to most, but it's worth a shot. How about an exclusive MMO on the Wii U? It's not totally impossible, but I suppose it's unlikely.
It would be nice, though, having some sort of World of Warcraft-ish online RPG to play on the console, or maybe a city-like MMO with other people round. Ponder on it, and graciously post your opinions, if any.
I think Nintendo are developing a Pokèmon Online of sorts for the Wii U, correct? Also, I think I saw Ghost Recon Online, now this is most likely not an MMO, but I thought I'd get that out there.
monster hunter isnt MMO at all, its an amazing multiplayer game, but not an MMO
well sony put DC universe online on the PS3, so it depends, i think for something like an MMO, it would either need to be nintendo made, or have a lot of support from nintendo, so its really up to nintendo if we get one, and judging from their past with online connectivity and stuff, it doesnt look good though that said, the wii u's theme seems to be fixing the problems that nintendo historically has had lately, which could well include their online stuff
As far as I can tell, the reason the Monster Hunter games are not considered to be MMOs is because there is no persistant world.
It's a very fine distinction, but it means a Monster Hunter game is really no different to any other game with a lobby system - it's just that Monster Hunter's lobby system is especially grand in scope.
MMOs on the Wii U are very possible, but I'm not sure about probable.
@JayceJa@WaltzElf FYI Monster Hunter Frontier is quite different from the other MH games. It operates similar to Phantasy Star Online. There is a persistent world and there can be more than 4 players in certain missions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeqS4YypSjc [youtube:QeqS4YypSjc]
I might add that MH3's lobby system only allows 4 players to meet at a time (10 in the JP version), which isn't particularly grand in scope. Besides Frontier, MH has never tried to be like an MMO.
