Topic: Just bought a Wii U

Oh my god i just bought a Wii U. I've been going back and forth whether to buy a regular wii or a wii u these past few days (im mostly interested in the Wii library atm). I went ahead and bought a Wii U and now im extremely excited tbh.

My question is; Are there any Wii game's that'll play with the gamepad? Metroid:Other M for example?

As far as I know, no Wii game can be played with the Gamepad. You will need the Wii controllers. But you can use Wii controllers with some Wii U games.

I think you can play Wii games on the Gamepad screen, but will have to use the wiimote/classic controller for the controls. Not perfect, but if you were near the console but someone else wanted the TV, then it could be a nice bonus.

Nope, but you can use it for off-tv play, and it's great as a second screen for any game. Congrats!

As people have mentioned, you can use the gamepad as a display screen when playing Wii games, so you don't need to be in front of the actual TV, but not as a controller. This still works out pretty well as long as the game doesn't require pointer/motion controls. Playing games like Wario Land Shake It! in bed is pretty sweet.

The awesome thing about a Wii U console is that it gives you more choices, with almost full backwards compatibility for everything from Wii - the only thing I'm aware of that doesn't work is Lost Winds 2 on WiiWare. You might want to grab some Wii U-specific games too for off-screen play. Toki Tori 2 is fantastic, for example, and can be played entirely on the gamepad.

I am so excited right now guys i cannot even put it into words..... i'm so glad i didnt go the cheap way and buy just a regular wii. Now i just need to move my router downstairs because i can't update since the connection get's lost all the time xD

Congrats you made a great choice. Play Zombi U / Arkham City/ Mass Effect 3 / Deux Ex, and prepared to be amazed by the coolest technology ever, the game pad.

Good! If you want a challenging game I recommend you Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, It will keep you busy for a good time.

Thanks for all the tips new super mario bros u + luigi u came with the console and my first purchase is: SUPER METROID!!!!!!!! (a bit poor right now, game library will have to build up over time )

And i think it wont be long until i grab a wii remote + metroid prime trilogy and other m.. jesus i have such an itch for metroid right now.

Metroid Prime Trilogy might very well have been the best game purchase I've ever done.

If interested, the online Nintendo store still has refurbished Wiimotes with motion plus and a nun chuck for $20.
