I am newbie to Wii U. Would like to know wow to disable TV when playing games on Wii U GamePAD?

Turn off the tv.

And if your game has a game pad mode go into that mode.

When my son takes Gamepad to loses connectivity to Controller, it is complaining that the connectivity is lost and Game Pad is rebooting

@skumar1723: the game pad has a 10 to 20 feet radius depending on how many wall/doors are in the way and how thick they are.

I'm almost 100% sure it's using the IR LED in the Wii U GamePad itself to do that.
