I purchased a pre-owned copy of DKCTF at Gamestop about 10 days ago. I brought it home, put the game in my wiiu and It updated the game then started launching the game. While loading up the game I got an error code (150-1031) It says the disc could be dirty. I looked at the disc and it had no scratches or smudges, nothing.. I deleted the update data and redownloaded. Still would not work. So I took it back to GameStop and to my inconvenience there were no more copies their. So they shipped me another preowned copy. I got that in the mail this morning (after 8 days of waiting.)
I checked the new disc, once again flawless. Redownloaded the update and I get the error code again. I called Nintendo support and they had me try my other wiiu games (worked fine) & delete the update data and reinstall it yet again. The specialist suggested that I just buy the digital version, but it's like 11gb.
Here's exactly what happens when I try to load the game. The Wii U recognises the game, I launch the game, it goes to a screen with the game logo and a woman singing a generic Donkey Kong jingle. A banana peels in the bottom left of my screen to represent that it's loading. Underneath the banana there is (the game version) v1.10. After about 8 seconds the music fades then the error code appears and the banana continues peeling in the background.
Anyone know what the problem could be?
P.S. I'm kind of afraid to buy a New copy of the game because I won't get a refund on it if my system won't read it. My other games work fine.
The issue may be corrupt data on the disc and could be why it was traded? If you send the disc to Nintendo, they may be able to replace it for a charge or you can see if the retailer has another copy?
@MaseSco: I can still get my money back for the title and buy a new copy for like 5 bucks more. I usually never buy pre owned games but GameStop was doing a buy 2 get 1 free so I went for it...
Also what are the odds that two discs in almost new condition are having the exact same problem.
@KaviD: I've never had this issue with any game. It likely is a problem wuth the Wii U, itself, as it happened on two separate discs. Try making sure the system is level and try deleting the update and starting the gane without the update. (Some games allow you to skip the update while it's downloading. If this doesn't work, it's way above my level of expertise.
@UGXwolf: I tried that actually, it would not let me start the game without updating. When I click on the game it says "Preparing Update" from there my options are "OK" or "Cancel" I even tried disabling my internet and it wouldn't let me play without updating. None of my other Wiiu games ever forced me to update anything.
@KaviD: That would mean someone without an internet connection on their WiiU couldn't play the game? I find that hard to believe.
If that's the case, i think there's something wrong with your system. Have you tried formatting your hard drive/system restore?
@KaviD: No it doesn't make any sense. Could you try deleting your internet settings on your system, then reboot it, and then start the game back up? Curious if that works.
@KaviD: Yes, in plenty of unfortunate cases completing a certain compulsory level in World 3 made it impossible to move on. Even with the update I think you would've had to start from the beginning again.
If the rest of your Wii U titles are fine and the only affected title is DKC: TF, it could be a bad batch of discs? For the updating issue, there should be an option saying "Start Software" when the update is downloading
Probably not going to do anything, but have you tried unplugging your Wii U for about a minute and then trying again? Maybe I know that's solved a few issues I've had with mine. Again, probably won't help, but worth a shot.
I think this sounds like an issue with the disc drive (not the dics), even if the drive can read other games. Tropical Freeze is pretty disc intensive at the startup. 1.1.0 is the latest version, so according to the OP the game is updated.
