Surprised there's not a dedicated thread- at least not one for a few pages, so I thought I'd start one. Maybe it's bc folks have played it on other systems. Anyway, picked it up today and so far, pretty impressed. It's just put together well and pretty creative. While I like Shovel Knight, I think I like this better for now.
Uaah, I need a Wii U Pro Controller to play this co-op with a friend.
Do the Wiimote+Nunchuck combo or Classic Controller really don't have enough buttons??
Will they update this? I really want this game but it seems I need 45€ for a Pro Controller first.
but I don't have many games that need a Wii U Pro Controller for multiplayer, only the Zen Studios games (Pinball, CastleStorm) where I don't really care about mp.
Guacamelee! on the other hand...
Wasn't it developed by Broken Rules? I thought they know how to support all controllers from their experience with Chasing Aurora.
Didn't even think about multi player, since I pretty much just play on my own. I've only cleared the first stage. It looks like you unlock different moves, so for advanced moves, you will need the extra buttons.

A classic controller has the same amount of buttons as a PS3 controller, so that should not be a problem. I guess the developer could not be bothered to support it. And that is a bummer.
I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.
Anyone knows why this game got so few reviews for the Wii U compared to other consoles (for example, there's still no NL review AFAIK)? Didn't the Wii U sites get reviews in advance? (Armillo that was released at the same time got quid a few reviews.) The general verdict in the reviews on the other platform seems to be that "Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition" is a major step forward compared to the previous game.
I downloaded the game at release and I think it's absolutely brilliant so far.
Not every game unfortunately gets a review on or before release date. It all depends on If the dev gave out review copies or not. I'm guessing few sites asked for one in advance. Those other reviews are mostly not for this updated version and have been out for a while. Wouldn't be surprised if NL has theirs up by tomorrow sometime.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.

The reviews for other consoles are for the Super Turbo Championship Edition and these reviews have all been posted during the past week. On MetaCritic, there's only one single review for the Wii U version, while there are 12 for the PS4 version for example.
But most of them are from sites no one cares about? Like the same no-one site that gets 100s(!!!!!!!!!!!!!) of views a day and yet gets on Metacritic because I don't know.
Yes you're right however some of the problematic been noticing are that some sites will review a copy a as a whole as in give the same grade for all formats and list it in their review as such. I'm thinking Metacritic is just posting it for what ever system comes first on the list and not for any others. I seen that happen to Shovel Knight where the PC, U, and 3ds version All got lumpectomy with the PC only. Chances are a few of those reviews are also meant for the Wii U.

I'm playing it at the moment - you have to press down on both analogue sticks to activate a power (L3 + R3 I think they are called), something the Wii Classic Controller can't do.
It's a good game but I feel it uses more buttons than it should. The R analogue stick is used to pull out something that you can achieve by pressing ZL + direction so, in theory, it would be possible to support the Classic Controller by re-arranging the control layout.
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...
Finally picked this up while it's still on sale and so glad I did! This might end up being my favorite eshop game over the last 5 year's. This game is more like Metroid then any I've seen to this point and it just keeps getting better. Plenty of thing to do and upgrades galore. Nice presentation, music, and animation. Plenty funny as well. I would even say it's worth 5 times as much as I paid for it.
