If 100K sold worldwide in a week is "amazing", then the Wii U truly is a flop.
111 000 is good numbers if they can keep it up that way you think all consoles will sell 500k a week ??
No, I don't expect a console to sell half a million units in one week consistently. My point was that 100K in a week is not "amazing".
Thinking negatively even with such positive news. /shakes head
Wait until the 'usual suspects' start chiming in. Seems odd to me that people would join a fan site, just to pounce on the fans. Spinning any positive thread they come across.
In any event, I think this bodes well for Nintendo this Christmas, and beyond.

It's called being a realist. My point is that if this is "positive" and "amazing" then the Wii U is going to wind up somewhere around the Gamecube's numbers. Ouch.
k
Ok get off your couch and go buy a Wii U then! ouchhh

At 100,000 per week for the next 5 years, that would equal 26 million. Add the 4 million give or take, that's about 30,000,000.
Ok, so it needs to sell at least twice of that to have a sale count that's comparible to the Xbox 360 or PS3. It's still alot, though.
We don't really know how long Nintendo plans to push this generation until they release a new system, though. Even at this rate, another year would jump the number to 35.5 million.
There's just too many varying variables to know anything, really. Nintendo could bundle a 2DS with the Wii U for $300 down the road with an account system and sell gangbusters on shared software sales. There's just no way to know. I hope you understand.
I'm not pouncing on fans, nor do I make a habit of doing so. I am a big Nintendo fan and hope they do well.
But I'm not going to lie to myself to make myself feel better.
100,000 (if true) sales is great. Its a substantial increase in hardware shifted, its excellent news. Any Nintendo fan should feel better because the more units sold = more support.

I love Nintendo, Sony & Microsoft - why? I am a true gamer.

MAB is just pointing out that sales don't equal third party support nor does the 3ds need it. He's being pretty darn positive today. One thing you can count on tho, he is always funny. " claps"
Ya. I can agree with MAB on this one. There IS 3rd party support, just not as much as we would all expect or hope for.
Development of video games has become alot more time consuming. Portables tend to be equal to the home console generation before it. In this case, 3DS games require the same ammount of time it would take to create a late 6th gen/early 7th gen home console game.
It really depends on the intentions developers have.
Random back-on-topic-ness. I watch a weekly PC hardware enthusiast live-stream (wait it out, I'm getting there) and the inevitable question was brought up. If your PC was taken away from you and you were forced to pick between PS4 and XBOne what would you get? Much to the shock of the person asking the question the other two people instantly said Wii U. The chat exploded with WiiU+PC just like it once would have for Wii60. Three months ago that would have been unheard of on this particular stream.
Seriously, the lackluster software lineup the XBOne/PS4 has at launch, which was always going to happen at any console launch, and the general sameness. That combined with Super Mario 3D World, Wind Waker and also Pokemon on the 3DS adding to that nostalgia fix. The penny has dropped and the broader market is starting to pick up on things we've known on this forum since launch. It's just going to take a bit to see how much of an impact it'll actually make in the medium term.
