It is pretty clear they were supposed to be a BK type character. Banjo Kazooie would be the absolute perfect duo to put into smash. I wish he put them in Melee before Microsoft bought them

As soon as I saw the duo fighting together I knew they had to at least be a nod to Banjo and Kazooie. I would love it if they made a spiritual successor to Banjo featuring the Duck hunt dog (Mr. Peepers) and a duck. It would just work so well.

Title is spoilers. I know it's nearly impossible to avoid character reveals for Smash but it would be nice if you didn't include them in the title.
