Oh man the clunky memories that thing conjures up. Of course it absolutely won't be for a new transfer pack, as any data could just be transfered wirelessly between the 3DS and WiiU.

It's not for charging because that's the two gold plates either side and it's not for securing it to plastic accessories because plastic doesn't need data/power. Probably for something not yet announced and maybe not even thought of yet. Like the Vitality Sensor or a different style instrument for a Guitar Hero style game. Who knows.
