Topic: Black Ops 2 Wii U functionality

Judging by when this video was first put up and the VERY little Black Ops 2 information available at the time, along with the tablet shown in the video, the nod to Call of Duty at the end, the guy saying the technology won't exist for 10 or 15 years (and Black Ops 2 is set in the "near future"), the very recent confirmation of a Black Ops 2 Wii U version and screenshots from the game showing this EXACT quadrocopter, I think it's rather likely this video on a popular YouTube channel was paid for by Activision as a hint at Black Ops 2 Wii U functionality.

Warning: some slight language. Viewer discretion is advised.

Black Ops 2 screenshot for comparison.

What do you think? Sly hint or total bizarre coincidence?

I guess we really don't have any Call of Duty fans on here, huh?

Haha I thought you were crazy until I watched the video, I see what you mean. I really doubt this video was set up by Activision, but it would make an excellent advert for the Wii U version of Black Ops 2.

Either way, that's the best episode of FPS Russia I've ever seen, so thanks for posting it.

Well, he did say "his friends tell him it may be in the next Call of Duty game..." And I don't remember much info about this game in April (if it was even announced then... I can't remember). It was just a thought.

Also, I think it would be really awesome to use the quadrotor "Charleene" with the Wii U Game Pad. Seeing it's view from the screen and taking out guys from afar. I think that would be an excellent mechanic that would add a nice strategic layer to the game.

I don't know how I didn't notice this before, but check out the small print in the bottom left corner at the end of the video just after his sign off.

Wow, yeah I didn't notice the small print either. So Treyarch or Activision must have had something to do with this, and that tablet controller is basically a Wii U Gamepad... Interesting. Good find man!

I think it would make for an awesome ability. It would make for a sort of "combat controller class" who can go find a "safe" spot and launch a quadrotor that can be used for recon as he directs his teammates via the GamePad's built-in mic. Or, if he wants to give his position away, or one enemy is particularly troublesome, he can fire the machine gun and if it's about to go down, he can kamikaze and detonate the machine. All that via the Wii U's second screen so he has to watch his back on the main screen. It seems like a really good twist to me and could be a lot of fun.

How about the other uses of the gamepad screen? Use it for the map, inventory, camera spike, etc. Or also co-op where one player is on the gamepad and another on the tv. Or some sort of asymmetric gameplay like in zombies mode?

I'm a Call of Duty fan. Black Ops, anyway. I mostly just play it for the zombies mode, but i do play multiplayer, too.

I noticed the same thing a while back. As soon as I heard him talk about a tablet, I thought, "Wow, that would be great for Wii U!"

@DudeSean: I would image a map would be present and the mic will probably be used to replace a headset. I can't imagine much more, but I just thought this video was a pretty cool hint at one awesome new feature.

Oh, yeah. This is definitely a cool idea and it seems like it will be in the game. Also, yeah, it would be nice to have the mic and speakers of the gamepad be used for voice chat. That way anyone can have a mic, unlike now where you have to keep going through different lobbies trying to find people with mics.
