The Wii U VC supports all controllers as far as I'm aware so I'm not sure what the problem is. Plus the Pro Controller is more than good enough, good gamers don't blame their controls

Cool ideas. Glad I'm not the only one who misses the octagon thing. Love my Gamecube Controller for that.

Lots of censorship here...

It's not a matter of that, brah... it's a matter of:

The old flat style Classic is becoming rarer and rarer. I've seen people selling the original flatties on Ebay for $50 NiB. And then there's those ultra-rare Club Nintendo SNES pad models that they only made so many of, those go as high as like, $100... sometimes you get lucky and one will be like, $70. Supply of those -will- dwindle. That's inevitable.

I'm not saying the original flat Classic Controller is a bad controller, I use that more than any other incarnation. I'm saying they oughta bring it back, either a remade / enhanced version of the old model that plugs into the WiiMote with digital rubber tact buttons for the shoulders instead of what they had (Sliders and Clickers), or do a "special edition" flat / condensed version of the Wii U Pro controller that would have Classic / Retro feel, but all the same capabilities as the Wii U Pro Controller (minus the crazy flip-flopping of stick and dpad placement, and minus the zL and zR that feel like you never actually hit the rubber depressors inside the same way twice).

The Classic Pro may be good enough for you, but to me it pales
in comparison in terms of feel and build quality to the old flatty.
They made that thing well, tight sticks, every CC Pro I've ever
taken out of a box has had loose / weak sticks.

^THIS GUY gets it...

Lan, if you like the idea, then please send an email to Nintendo Customer Service Dept.
and make sure you include a link to the mock up image from this post... if they'll listen
to people about Earthbound, who's to say they wouldn't listen about this?
It's wholly unfair they didn't release the SNES CC to the general public anyway.
People would have bought that in stores if it had been allowed to be sold publicly.
The Wii-U and its backwards compatibility with the older peripherals is a chance
for Nintendo to revive the old flat CC, or at the very least, sell the SNES CC in stores.

@FlatWiiCCFan
There are third party Wii <-> SNES/NES controller adapters floating around on the interwebs as well as GC <-> Wii adapters. Also some requiring you to get your hands a bit dirty and wire it up yourself for any controller you can think of. It's out there, google it.

I'm all for wanting to see them bring the SNES CC back even if it's as a Club Nintendo thing again but I don't think it's as big a deal as you're making it out to be. Certainly not worth an entire new controller.

The appeal of the SNES CC is that it is a brand new controller with new rubber internals and fresh, un-discolored plastic. And yes, I'm aware of adapters. Before I'd ever "get my hands dirty" I'd just buy something from Mayflash. But you see, I actually -like- the old flat Classic with analog sticks. You didn't read any of the initial post.

It wasn't "worth an entire new controller" when they put out the CC Pro at the middle / tail end of the old Wii's lifespan either, but they did. So who is to say that they won't end up doing another revision again? The Wii U is still young.

They still have plenty of time for them to bring back and
enhance the best controller they made since the SNES.

Each to their own. Personally I really disliked the original Classic Controller and was glad to see it slowly fade away. If I was to complain about anything it would be Nintendo's insistence of making all their controllers have a glossy finish...

Then they should give it a textured surface like the SNES pad...

The good:

•Replaced the Slider L/R and clicker zL/zR with normal
rubber contact buttons like the PS1/PS2 controllers.
•Configuration of the shoulders and controller shape
made it easier to hit the shoulders -and- hold down
face buttons at the same time. (Think of trying to do
a Dash / Jump while shooting in Mega Man X).

The bad:

•Wobbly stick tops and loose analogs with lower resistance.
•Sticks were spaced so far apart that trying to do Y run /
B jumps in games like Super Mario World caused you
to bang the side of your thumb against the top of the
right analog stick which would get really annoying.

•YXBA buttons made smaller, no more hard "pop,"
B button would eventually start to feel squishy.
•Still used clickers for Start, Home, Select.

I wouldn't mind a first party SNES styled controller for Wii U that connects via bluetooth as the Wii U Pro Controller does. I bought one at launch and just used it for the first time last night when I was playing Super Metroid. The only reason I even tried it was because the GamePad was dying. I actually like the directional pad on the Wii U P.C. a lot now that I have used it.

Then you and everyone else who likes that idea should email them about it like I did, and -maybe- just maybe they'll consider the possibility... and I think the Dpad on the Wii U Pro controller is good too, but the Gamepad's is like... the closest thing to a Snes quality Dpad since the Snes controller. It's very tall and it has a lot of travel, does rotations and "diagonal only" insanely well.
