Oracle of Seasons. The first Zelda game I actually beat was Ocarina of Time.

Zelda 1, which is a terrible first Zelda unless you love making your own maps.

Non-binary, demiguy, making LPs, still alive

Or had Nintendo Power. Or you know, could memorize the overworld, which honestly isn't that hard. Outside of those 4 forest-areas, every square looks distinct, so it's not like there are no landmarks. Seriously, I have a terrible sense of direction - I got lost in Final Fantasy 10 on a frequent basis, and that game consists of nothing but hallways - and I got my bearings in about 2 hours, and by now I know the map pretty much by heart. The world isn't that big, either.

I usually forget where are some dungeons, but I always know where I am in Zelda 1. The map is well designed.

Except for those areas with ten thousand trees where you need to light them up one by one to find a secret.

You can burn those trees?! I never knew that!

A very specific inconspicuous tree with a heart container under it.

Wind Waker HD. I late bought Skyward Sword, and I bought the NES one and A Link to the Past during the eShop sale.

When I get a 3DS I'll get Oot 3D, and when Nintendo makes a GCN VC, I'll get Twilight Princess.

The first one I owned was Link's Awakening DX, but I think I played A Link to the Past on emulator before that

Ocarina Of Time, I got it for Xmas when it was selling out everywhere and my Mum managed to track it down anyway.

My first Zelda game was Minish Cap. I don't remember why I wanted it, (in general I don't remember why I wanted any of the GBA titles I have but I'm glad my taste in games was quite random back then) but I remember I could never put it down when I played it. I remember loving the upgradable weapons, the techniques, the graphics, and the music for the game.

Dreamz

The original. It was, I think, the third game I ever played for the NES - the first was Super Mario Bros., the second was Duck Hunt, and the third was the original Legend of Zelda.
